I found Taruffi very good although has to be placed in a historical context I suppose

Jenks 'The Racing Driver' would be a good start, although like Taruffi is dated, but still includes much relevant insight.

Best book I've read for a while on the subject is Driving on the Edge by Michael Krumm as well. Bang up to date and relevant to the modern car.

Best practical book I've read is the Castrol Racing Driver's Manual by Frank Gardner giving advice from how to buy a suitable car (formula ford as example) to how to solve handling problems via how to ward off an over aggressive opponent & racing lines. Published early 70s so probably only in motorsport book specialists. Reread it recently & it's still very relevant.

The late, great Gerry Marshall's book - "Competition Driving". Down to earth & practical.. No doubt out of date, but the basics don't change.

Don't bother YiBS, by the time you have tracked all of these books down and paid money for them, then read them all thoroughly ......

You will be too old and too broke to go racing anyway.

Try a good driver coach, probably the best investment.

Best of luck with your career.

Bauble.

I can recommend 'Competition Driving' by Paul Frere. It may be quite old but he won Le Mans and he gives lots of good advice, which is still relevant today.
