Complex but help!
Ok guys, have just a great comp DVD on ebay with some superb rallycrss stuff on it, and though I know my stuff on the golden era there are some cars I would like some help with.
Hopefully Eddi might read this and help me out! Firstly Denis Marcel and the Matra Murena, that car loked real quick and also looked 4wd? Jacques Aita, a Quattro but was it 2wd. Remember Bentza's 80 Quattro, surely running 5 cylinder running gear, coz he won the gP in 86 in an A2 I think? Colin Claxton no 260, in a Mk2 Fiesta again looked like 4wd, similar to Mike Jennings car. Erm and I know Bob Gooding is running the car again now, but what spec was Hopkins Escort? Was it running a Zakker like the Xtrac cars or a turbo BDA (basically what a Zakker was anyway?) I remember Piet Dams car aswell, damn that thing was quick, looked a bit scruffy but very fast, that must have been turbo $wd aswell. That'll do for now lol!! |

Andy Bentza: Audi 80 quattro Turbo, 5-cylinder engine, later driven by Reneé Vontsina
Denis Marcel: Talbot Matra Murena 4x4 Jacques Aïta (â€*): Audi quattro, was based on an Audi Coupé but had 4WD Piet Dam: BMW 320i 4x4, originally normally aspirated engine, later replaced by turbocharged engine |

Colin Claxton had the ex-Jennings Fiesta. It had a transverse BDA through a modified Hewland fwd gearbox and also had independant rear suspension. He then built a 'conventional' 4wd mk3 fiesta (with narrower than normal arches) with a turbo YB and quaife gearbox. Loads of problems and no speed so he sold the gearbox to Steve Mundy (who put it into the ex Manning mk3 fiesta and converted it to 4wd. May be the same box in the Focus) and Colin converted the fiesta to rwd. Bought Brian Betteridge's 2205cc BDX and ran it on carbs (Brian had injection) and also had a spell with a 2.4 atmo yb. Later sold the car to Mike Sellar who ran 2.4 yb and then a Hart 420, which i always thought was illegal as it did not have a homologated block. Colin went back to the grass with a rear engined Clio class 7 (i think).
