Fantastic. First date for my diary sorted.
New caravan due in April, better make sure we've got it by then. Although I'm not sure this is right: "what is a much sort after event". Sought after, quite possibly. |

Is It Really? ...
... Haven't we been here before?
I do hope it's true as we need a GB 24hr race - in whatever form. Time will tell |

Gosh!
Well, if it happens, then that will be the first one that Bill & I will not be able to do. Goodbye, PieLady. |

I'm not convinced by the use of the International layout.

I don't believe it will be on International circuit.. it is more likely to be the full GP ... the reason I say this is because the claim is 80 cars... international would be maximum of 60 ish ... and Britcar claim they will be using both pits.. and that is impossible unless you use the GP layout ...

I rather imagine that there was a minor typo somewhere along the line. Referring to the Silverstone International (capital i) circuit refers to a specific circuit configuration; using Silverstone international (lower case i) circuit could be taken to imply Silverstone, which hosts a great deal of international motorsport. As such a typographical error can change the meaning of the sentence.

When I've done the 24hr (flaggy both times), I've just done the 24hrs race only (obviously letting the Chief Marshal first). I then do the first stints to give the other flaggy whose probably been there all day a break.

When flagging with two on the post we've found it beneficial overnight to do two 6 hour stints. I'm a night owl so I do 9 to 3 and then have 3 to 9 off. This gives time for a really good 4-5 hour sleep with breakfast before going back out and we were both pretty fresh afterwards.

The more marshals we have the better it will be for us... My volunteering form should be available pre Christmas ... and should be available at www.brsccmids.co.uk , www.brscc.co.uk , www.marshals.org.uk , and others .. and of course the 24hr race will be on there..

27 entries already, according to the original link. Last time I did this, it felt a little empty with 30, but that's probably because the year before there were 60. Hopefully it will be closer to that by the time we get round to it. I'll be putting my name down for this one, regardless

Still remember, during my first Britcar 24hrs, doing a 4 hour shift, through the night, watching the cars go round, behind the safety car, in the fog. The safety car went in just as my shift finished! |

I remember it well, I was in the Safety Car and it was scary.

IMHO nothing can match the Willhire 24 (25) hour. [does that make me v v old?] SC & Fog? You should have been at Snetterton . Drone, drone, drone ...... and then the SC leapt into the pits! Why? 1. it was running out of fuel 2. Driver was desperate for a pee! Those were the days ....... |

Reading this just makes me sad that I (we) won't be able to do it next year. Boo Hoo.
Over the years we have done various duties. Bill was deputy chief flag and I was PieLady, but also ended up in Assembly when not driving round the circuit delivering stuff but always losing Woodcote! No, I don't know why, either. Blame the fog maybe! And we all ended up on the bank in the first year on the Friday as they were so short of flaggies. I think Sue Mullen ended up running everything on her own in race control that day, or it probably felt like it! Great times, a great meeting and definitely one to be experienced. And any rally marshals should definitely latch onto Ian Briggs. They did one of the "muddy" posts just after the circuit re-build. I believe they organised duckboards and straw and made sure they came to me for deliveries rather than making me plough through the quagmire to get to them. It was much appreciated. But you have to buy the headgear to work with Ian! |
