Brilliant weekend
What a great weekend; OK weather could have been better overnight...
Really enjoyed the races, first time seeing the Go Karts! I thought the light boxes were brilliant, just had to remember how bright the green was when turning it on! I was at Stowe and could quite clearly see the lights over at Farm. Big, big, improvement. Thank you to everyone on post with me and also to Roy, Alan, Luke and everyone else. Also thought the security teams did a good job over the weekend too. |

Britcar 24hr April 25/26 Stowe
Just to kick this into touch... Special regards to all on Stowe outer , particularly `Liverpool Keith`. You guys rounded off my 50th ambiton to Marshal at Silverstone perfectly- as the dawn broke on my 51st. 24hrs just flew by......didn`t it? Thanks.

When I arrived on Post 25 on Saturday afternoon and saw 28 cars go around on the green flag lap, I thought I was going to be in for a long 24 hours, especially with not having as SMT crew based at the post.
Starting a shift at 9pm when the worst of the rain started to fall, I was amazed when the next time I looked at my watch it was nearly 3am! I feel extremely sorry for the Fiesta. If they hadn't had their problems in the last hour, they would have probably broken through 400 laps. I am desperately hoping for more cars next year as I think that it would not be feasible for the numbers to drop any lower. |

They were a really happy bunch at the end. They invited all of the pit gang to join in their team photo too .... short version: they now have a team photo with about 15 marshals "pushing" their car

Still, had a good time. Would come back again, perhaps with more camping equipment next time. |

This was my first 24 hours race, but it won't be the last one. Really enjoyed the weekend, great crew on Copse supporting us overnight when we only had one on the flag point, good company and lots of interesting racing.
It was good to see both drivers get away with the two overnight incidents, it certainly woke us up! I echo what others have said (better than I could have done) but lots of positives from the event. Hopefully some more cars next year, and also a few extra marshals, but that didn't spoil the fun. |

The car's lights shining off the Becketts grandstands as they went through Village and the Loop looked very atmospheric, especially when they were all queued behind the Safety Car. |

What a fantastic week end!Enjoyed flagging on post 5 with a very good mate. Felt really sorry for him when the deluge came down I had just got in van (20-30 hrs) enjoyed the "grave yard shift" the lights were fantastic we rigged up a bungy to suspend it from the grill then just turned it round for green or yellow.Felt sorry for BMW diesel not quite getting to the end also no 38 when he shed his wheel on the loop quite spectacular. Thanks to Roy and all the team brilliant radio control. Ill be back.

I am SO jealous that I (we) didn't make it this year, even with the weather that has been reported.
I hope Hairy DJ's Pot Noodles worked out. Well done to everyone. ex-PieLady |

No-one brought hot pies around, Shelagh. I really missed them in the night. Dave did have at least one Pot Noodle (and survived the experience - at least till 16:15 Sunday when I last saw him).

Pictures from the meeting are now on the usual site and can be downloaded from there if wanted. Not good weather for photography (well not a duffer like me), but I hope everyone can find something they like. Of course some cars did not last very long so I tried to catch as many as possible during the first few laps.
Just in case you missed it the marshal snaps are in the appropriate album. Cheers, Bauble. www.picasaweb.google.co.uk/rbmapics Shelagh, you may not have been there, but you can see what you missed. Love, Bob. |

The car's lights shining off the Becketts grandstands as they went through Village and the Loop looked very atmospheric[/QUOTE] Forgot that in my highlights. Looking down the international pit straight as the cars came out of Vale and lit the grandstand as they swept round club. Magical. I shall pass your message on to my wife who was having only her second go on the radio. I might be biased but I thought she did a great job and got better and more confident as the event went on. We were discussing today how to explain why this meeting is so enjoyable. I find enough difficulty explaining why I enjoy marshalling to people who don't do it, and I find the same difficulty explaining to people who do marshal why the 24 hours is so good. Don't have the words to put it over, it just is. |

Looking at my Picasa site the quality of the pictures seems a little poor, and while I know they are not all of a very high standard, if there is something you particularly like drop me a pm and I will send you back a high res version from my files. That should be better than downloading from the site.
Cheers, Bob. |

As I wandered from post to post I found all of the marshals voicing their support for the 'Fiesta', I suggested to one that if the car broke down on the last lap the marshals would push it from post to post to get it home! He agreed.

Reminds me of the Mercedes at the first 24 Hours. It was driven from Germany, raced, and driven back if I remember correctly. We'd have picked the bloody thing up and carried it over the line if we'd had to! Teams like this are the spirit of a 24 hour race. They won't win but their victory is finishing.
I'd also like to thank the Fiesta drivers for being so good at keeping out of the way. They didn't always need a blue but when I did give them one they behaved impeccably. |

Other than waving/ thumbs up/ photo-bombing at end of race, what can we drivers/ teams do to show our appreciation to you marshalls?
