Just got my post allocation I am at Village which is good just a quick question is it normal to have 2 post chiefs I have also noticed 9 course/incident marshals seems a lot unless you are split up to do different sections within that area first time at BGP have marshalled at Silverstone but only a couple times and never at Village

I've done a PDF of the post allocations by post if you want to know who you are marshalling with
it can be found here

Heardy two post chiefs is normal at the gp. I've not marshalled at village but iirc it's a big area. You will be split into small teams usually pairs or 3s and the post is split into sections altho you back each other up. Your IO will explain all when you get to post.

New role of radio coordinator for me this year.

I did Village a couple of years ago. We covered four points within the post. Don't forget you have the inside of Aintree "behind" you

Yes, 2 PCs is normal.

There were loads of us on Village, last year ... that post covers everything on the outside from Farm Curve, all the way round on to Wellington. I was operating the lights there last year, at a point well away from the post .... we were so spread out that the nearest marshal to me was 100 yards away (even had a car pull off, right in front of me in FP).

Various pieces of information now also up on the site, including the draft timetable.

Assuming we're required to be on post an hour before inspection, Friday looks a very reasonable start (0920 inspection) though we don't finish until gone half six that day.

Sunday however has inspection at 0715...

Sounds about normal. As I recall, radio collection has in the past closed at 0630 on Sunday. I'd expect the same this year, looking at that.

radio collection on Sun last year was 0545-0600

on post times were 0845 / 0745 / 0700 for the same start / inspection times as this year's timetable.

I'm just wondering if a record has been set.

Almost a week has passed since the release of 'the list', but, as of yet, there are no 'where's Post soandso...' requests yet...

Just seen on the "Information for Officials" that the I.O.s have to sign on between 12:00 and 12:15 and then have a brief (along with the JCB Snatch) at 12:15 on the Thursday. How come we have to sign on and brief that early when the Flag marshals and Post Chiefs dont have to sign on until 16:45 - 18:30 / 17:00 - 19:00 and get briefed 18:40 / 19:05?

Bang goes my lie in on the Thursday morning and gentle drive to Silverstone to arrive mid afternoon

Mike... I think this will be because your chiefs are very busy on Thursday afternoon and this will be to fit into their schedules... I know how busy the Peters are all that day and don't get time to sit down until very late in the day. They are also busy on Wednesday all day.

Dave, we still have the option to sign on on the weds evening or the Thursday up until 10pm
This frees up the day to enjoy the hospitality that the city offers
