I hope 'tis true. No disrespect to Wurz, but he's done nothing with that car all year. Give young Webber a chance to make a small mark for himself before another seaon in F3000. Hopefully it would help pave his way to a full time ride in 2002.

Mark Webber should be given a chance
SInce his superb performance in Estoril surely one of the teams out there cannot afford to pass up an opportunity to put Mark in an F1 car?
Within three days in a car he did not know and a trackhe did not know he was lapping .3s faster than R Schumacher and G Fisichella. The guys at the top had better watch out for their places! |

Rumours, rumours, rumours. Tell me when you have the facts. Personally, I cannot see Benneton dropping Wurz for hte last two races. There must be contractual and endorsement and personal sponsorship complications. To be perfectly honest, Benneton could spend a lot more time and effort and give Alex a decent car to drive - one that won't break down again.
I think the only avenue for Mark would be to be official test driver for the team next year, and hope sopmebody gets sick during theseason. |

It would be a shame for Wurz though, Monza was probably his best performance this year.
Dunno whats been up with him lately though. When he arrived in F1 he was hailed as the next big thing, but its all come to nought. Personally I think its a combination of two main factors. 1. He doesn't get on with the narrow track cars with grooved tyres. His best ever performances were in the last of the slick shod, wider cars. 2. In view of 1. Benetton have always given Fissi. the best equipment. Both of these factors will have conspired to damage his self confidence, which in turn will have made matters worse. |
