it's not called "loving" things about everybody. its about respecting their choices. i like to think that you, as a reasonable human being will respect his right to choose what he wears and how he presents himself even if it doesn't appeal to your own taste. but you wouldn't bring it up as a reason why he's a bad choice for an idol or hero. plenty of people would.

I can image the focus in on 2021?

They have limited funds, so spending money on a soon to be extinct set of technical regulations is probably not well spent. Even if they did rob Peter (2021 R&D) to pay Paul (2020 car), I can't imagine them leaping forward up the grid. So what is the point of focusing on 2020? This assume the sponsors are on-board with the strategy (ie. back of the grid again) and they are financially secure enough to make it into 2021. Assuming it's fixable, who knows at what point they understood what was wrong. Then the questions is time and money to develop fixes mid season. Also remember they struggled to just show up given the fiasco at start of season. So they have been on the back foot the entire time.

And this assumes it is fixable. The problem might not be fixable and they are just going to limp along until 2021. And even if fixable, how much time and money to fix it? Again, they may band-aid the car and focus on 2021.

It is sad. I have been a long time Williams fan. But this is racing! It has peaks and valleys.

But if they don;t have the resources to build an all new car from scratch, and then do the same all over again next year? What then? Or do you want them to just fold? This to me seems like a missing the forest for the trees run. They were MILES behind everyone last season, they don't have the cash of even Haas who buys their car in the bargain bin from Ferrari. And they want to throw money after an aluminum gear box when everyone else has moved on so decisions don't seem to the strong suit of the team.

This to me feels like a let's make it until the rules get shuffled and see if we can spend 18 months working on a car instead of 8. I'm sure there has been some discussion with Latifi and sponsors about the future, doubt they would have signed without some kind of plan given the money I'm sure he's paid for that seat.

They are running a tight budget. I am sure they can still do the goods. Of course it is hard against the likes of Haas who everything in place. I reckon if things improve this season, 2021 will be something else. Latifi can help and I am sure he will do his best to keep the team afloat

Any new sponsorship is good for the team even if it does come via the driver.

Lavazza is part of the Sofina foods group that is owned by Latifi Snr so not a major new deal from Claire.

According to the ROKiT/Williams announcement: "ROKiT Williams Racing is pleased to announce Lavazza as an Official Team Partner for the 2020 FIA Formula One World Championship season.", that looks very much like a team deal.

Not necessarily but OP claimed it as Claire finding a new team sponsor.

Which it isn’t.

According to the ROKiT/Williams announcement: "ROKiT Williams Racing is pleased to announce Lavazza as an Official Team Partner for the 2020 FIA Formula One World Championship season.", that looks very much like a team deal.
“Williams is pleased to accept $x0,000,000 from our new driver who isn’t great but has a licence and the money, and will want his stickers on the car” doesn’t sound so great does it?
