Hopefully, the schedule will be devoid of the notation "TBA."

That will hopefully be the outcome of a delayed schedule.
Quote:
USA - Vegas, Long Beach, Houston, Laguna Seca, Road America, Cleveland Canada - Toronto, Mount Tremblant, Edmonton Australia - Surfers Paradise Mexico - Mexico City China - Same one that was proposed this year (Sorry forget the name) Europe - Zolder, Assen, and potentially an English venue were all that Phillips put out there. |

It's Zhuhai that is the Chinese circuit.
If it was the BBC thing with Legge and Wilson, then it's Brands Hatch GP Circuit in Britain (and that would be a damn good track to add to the schedule). |

I don't have it in front of me either, but Vegas is history unless they rent LVMS again.

I agree purist, The Champ Car Grand Prix at the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit would be awesome. I live fairly close to Brands Hatch and it would be a must for me. I would see a lot of support series races possibly with the BTCC weekend joining like they always do...

My personal opinion is that you won't see Vegas, Mexico City, or China happen next year. The other's listed seem possible.

Agree with Fogel....and I might add that it took a lot of negotiating to get Zolder to go with Assen for a doubleheader trip to Europe in '07, so I don't see added races in Europe as a slam dunk.

By no means a slam dunk.
But it definately seems there is a strong possibility, such that Phillips has been writing about the increase in OS events. Other forums, mainly speed have suggested Brands Hatch GP and Nurburgring. Extreme rumours at this stage but food for thought |

I doubt they will find another promoter for Zhuhai again.

CC says it has one, but they have a lawsuit to go through with the first one first.

That's ok -they can just put it on the schedule as TBC until a fortnight before it is due...

Well, we can confirm Long Beach, Houston, and Road America with today's announcement of the 2008 ALMS schedule.

It was explicitly stated by Scott Atherton that those events were in conjunction with CCWS.

Given the ups and downs of CC's scheduling, Atherton probably knows that's the plan but does he know if all the "i's" are dotted or "t's" crossed in CC's end of the deal with the race tracks? I doubt it.

UK Venues ... bearing in mind there is the GP Loop day business with Brands (don't get me started on NIMBYs), what about Donington? I think that's grade 2 and deffo has the top grade of bike licence.

Yeah, D.R.T., guess I AM critical when it comes to CC's schedule and kind of in the mode of "I'll believe it when the green drops." I guess I've gotten that way from Ansan three times, China, Phoenix and Denver announced for '07, the latter when the promoter's office had been closed for a month and there was no staff. The gaps (April-May and September-October). Scheduling Phoenix for Dec. 2 of all things in the first place.
Even today, the rumor is four races in Europe for '08 when CC had to work VERY hard to strike some kind of bargain to get Zolder to go with Assen so they could do a financially acceptable "two-fer" this year. Even today, the official word is Vegas is fine, yet the promoter's office is closed, it can't be run on the same course, the casinos don't want it and Freudenberg is running around Vegas looking for an alternate site and trying to gain leverage by spreading the hysterical notion that the IRL wants Vegas......to run a street race and lose anywhere from (the numbers I've heard) $9-19 million like the CC promoter did. So, when it comes to CC scheduling, yes, I just read it with interest four years ago to start with, then saw the cancellations, then saw the B.S., then saw the problems and somewhere during that process, I went from "Well, okay" to skeptical, then critical. As for those venues, I don't know any reason why CC CAN'T run those places. But I DO wonder about the status of ANY unannounced CC deals...and, from past history, even some of the announced ones. |

My approach is do deal with it as it comes. I would say let the schedule be released first then go from there.

Can anyone explain why there is no real link-up between ALMS and ChampCar? It would make perfect sense IMO. People would get a taste of sportscars and open-wheel at one event...???
