Supercars were great today, Dave Bellerby won the Modified A final in the Lotus???, Not to bad a meeting, few incidents but some good close races.

Sorry I missed all the B final results, there was a bit of confusion as to the running order, but all in all a good day. Very few red flags and only a couple of accidents. Terry Briggs non-started after practice. Will Gollop pulled off in the first heat when he thought the oil pressure had gone, but it turned out to be a faulty sensor. He went on to set BTD in his final heat. Despite his good results Will says he will miss Mondello in favour of going to the European round the same day. Lawrence Gibson had a bad misfire in his first heat, and McCluskey had problems getting off the line.
Sorry for also missing out on some names, couldn't always hear the err commentator err.

Bellerby was sharing the ex-Mike Dresser Lotus Exige with Kevin Proctor. Kevin was doing the BTRDA races.

Certainly the weighbridge was in use and very visibly. The other issue was seat belts, which several people had to purchase before being passed through scrutineering.

Must say congrats to the BRDA for making a great meeting , or should i say
meetings .
As i said earlier that running 2 meeting on the same day time wise it would be tight but must give Andy and crew a pat on the back proving me wrong.
With racing finishing at about 4.45 we could of had even more!
With a large crowd ( rallycross should have at every meeting ) the racing
was clean and very close in many cases.
As for results must say what a win by Will ( first time in 10 years at Lydden)
and kind of made it look easy!
Also well done Dave in winning the Super Mods A Final and Mike in a really
good 2nd.
Well done jules in the SH final , iam sure Rod will have his day ! . Also good
drive by Don.
After a frout day of 11th first runs a trip into the weeds on 2nd runs Kirky T
had a good 3rd run , pole in B final , won that then 5th in A
Well Done Mate...
As for the Girls or should i say Ladies what can be said !
Beckys starting to drive like a male member of her family em GR ! Go Girl
winning the BTRDA SH B final in the end quite easy and scaring a marshall
to jump of the bank on the way !
Tina gets faster at every meeting ! These ladies beat so many of you men
and when is it going to be podium place

Brill meeting but cant stand the wronge side of the fence for long

That was a fantastic days racing

Good racing all the way through in all the classes and everything ran very smoothly - no gaps in the racing and an unusually low number of stoppages.

Highlights:
Supercars:
The final! What a race - outstanding stuff from everybody.
Mundy - really on it, had the car flying all day.

Supermodifieds/modifieds:
Bellerby - jumped in the Lotus and was fast straight away, really impressive.
Dixon - the Astra was going a lot better than I've seen it.
Greer - may not have been the quickest but was learning the car, you could see him trying different lines into and out of the corners - intelligent driving.

Stockhatch:
The Hortons - The Metro looked good and went well, unlucky not to win a heat, Rich looked racy in the 205 too.
Mr Chicken - I hope you're ok phil and that the cars not too badly damaged, certainly an entertaining days driving!

Juniors
Jordan - Always looking for an overtake (although sometimes they weren't really on)

All in all it was a great day - I hope the rest of the year lives up to it!

What A Day!

All i have to say is what a great days racing that was!

It was certainly good for the sport to see such a big crowd, and the drivers certainly delivered some exciting races to watch. This is exactly what rallycross needed after a turbulent winter in the sport. Well done to everyone involved.

As for myself, thankyou for everyones comments. I had some fantastic races, especially the one where i came in second to chris langley who pushed me all the way and piped me to the post by .01 of a second! (the crowd really seemed to appreciate that race)

As for the new car, i'm very happy indeed with it to say the least. I was a bit doubtful at one point if it could be at the sharp end of the grid, but all those fears where blown away yesterday. I think with a few more races and a bit more experiance, I should certainly be able to push for some very good A final positions. I just wish the admin staff would acturally put me down as a metro gti rather than a mini gti

I was expeciting the lydden hill gardeners to come chasing after me at lunch after my two second heat trips onto the midfield (some times u never learn!)

Lastly, thanks to the marshels who turned out to help.

Probably a day for me to chalk up as another of those “learning experiences”.

After being off the pace most of the day with a porridge stirrer for a gear stick, I found a novel way to increase the size of my gonads, using a five-point harness. I’ve always wanted to sing soprano.

The car is fixable and is mostly just panels and a new radiator.

Andy and his team deserve a big pat on the back for a well-run event. Thanks to all the marshals for their hard work.

Phil.

I have to say that on days like yesterday I would have prefered to be a spectator. What racing I did see was excellent, and I think the event was a great advertisement for rallycross in the UK.

Monday was all about teamwork, from the officials, marshals, drivers, spectators, and the circuit it all made for a really good day of rallycross.

I would just add my thanks to everyone who made the day the success that it was.

Glad to hear that both Mr Poultry and Bob Ward are OK, if a little battle scarred, and I hope that the damage to the cars won't keep either of them off track for too long.

See some of you at Mondello?, then Knockhill? etc etc etc

...all about teamwork... UDB -that is precisely why I love rallycross above all other forms of motorsport - to be part of the team that makes it happen.

I would also echo your thanks to the circuit staff - the loose sections were well prepared I thought with no signs of any cutting up at all. The crowd was very appreciative of the on-track action whilst off-track the trees were begining to bud and spring flowers abounded.

Can you tell I enjoyed my day?
