The other Morgan news from Geneva is that Italan venture capitalist ‘Investindustrial’ has bought a large stake in the company. https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/m...jor-investment

Appears they also had a 37.5% stake in Aston Martin before the company was listed last year. Who knew.......

ASTON MARTIN LEADS DRIVE TO DISCOVER NEW BRITISH F1TM STAR
5 March 2019

Biggest ever prize for Aston Martin Autosport BRDC Award winner
Aston Martin now leads the way in developing British driving talent
Recipient to receive test in an Aston Martin Red Bull Racing F1TM car
Winner will also drive an Aston Martin Vantage GTE Le Mans race car
5 March, Geneva, Switzerland: Aston Martin will take a central role in the development of Britain’s future motorsport world champions now that it has become an official partner of the prestigious Aston Martin Autosport BRDC Young Driver of the Year Award from 2019 onwards.
Following the announcement, made by Aston Martin Lagonda President and Group CEO Andy Palmer during the company’s press conference at the Geneva Motor Show on 5 March 2019, Aston Martin is the new partner for the longstanding and career-defining programme to promote young British racing talent. Alongside the British Racing Drivers’ Club and Autosport, part of the Motorsport Network, it will contribute significantly to the largest and most important single prize awarded to a young rising star of UK citizenship in the history of the Award.

The 2019 winner of the AMABA will receive a test in an Aston Martin Red Bull Racing Formula 1TM car at Silverstone – which is owned by the BRDC – as well as a run in an FIA World Endurance Championship Aston Martin Vantage GTE challenger, while the Award also has an overall £200,000 prize fund.

Part of a Press release from Silverstone.

Passing the time here in Auckland waiting to get on correct aeroplane . Look on face book and there is some great film of cars racing backwards at Zandvoort . Looks to be in the 70’s.

Mine was much the same - in the end the charger packed up, and when I sold the building I weighed in the batteries and the forklift itself - I got much more for it as scrap than I'd paid for it

Hmm.

I seem to recall a number of times in the past when various companies have apparently invested heavily in motor sport - usually by way of sponsorship - at times when it was really not appropriate for them to do so from a fiscal point if view.

I hope this is not a precursor for the appearance of another example of the genre.

Today I was mostly driving my SUV Grand Cherokee on the M25 to and from Motor Racing Medics. I'm still breathing so licence application being posted.

It's always a pleasure visiting them and if they spot anything slightly off they make sure you get further checks.

Aston have also set up a road car test and development centre at Silverstone, with their own ‘exclusive’ track. Wonder where that is? Appears the Silverstone ‘Experience’ cars are now Vantages as well...

Peter- good to hear you survived the race medical ordeal! Did it include SRECG or have you avoided that?

Interesting factoid regarding the availability of some new EV models from various manufacturers. Appears that they need to hold off sales until next year in order to offset them against the CO2 reduction penalties being imposed. So for instance, you now can’t buy a Hyundai Kona EV for that simple reason- Politics! (According to a report from Geneva Show )

The Porsche Centre is on the outside of the circuit alongside the Hanger Straight, Astons have a lease on the Stowe Circuit (over the bridge heading for 'The Wing'), they've started putting up buildings for R & D.

The Stowe circuit is still available to hire @ weekends and I know that the MGCC Sprint as part of MG Live in June will happen.
