Les should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Silverstone circuit has unveiled plans to build a completely new pits complex and media centre in order to put the Northamptonshire track back in the running to host the 2002 British Grand Prix. Circuit bosses are set to spend £8.5 million to bring Silverstone up to current Formula 1 standards with a new pitlane on the Hangar straight, which would become the new start-finish point for the Grand Prix.

Excuse me but what's wrong with the pits and media centre now. I can think of a lot of other things to spend £8.5 million on - a roof on the grandstands - a tunnel/bridge from Woodcote to pits.

Anybody else think the same?

Could not agree more.
I don't like to pay for a grandstand seat and get a soaking.

I could never quite understand the logic behind replacing the pit straight grandstands and putting new ones up without any rooves.
They shouldn't be allowed to alter the circuit - it'll only mean more work on the circuit guides

I'm beyond caring, to be honest. If Bernie announced that there'd no longer be a GP in Britain, I think i'd be relieved - watching the idiots at Donington, Brands and Silverstone playing silly buggers is almost embarrassing.

ooooOOOHHH Please come on now, the carpets in the corporate and press areas must be almost threadbare by now, the ashtrays full of cigar butts and all the furniture stained by Champagne spills. £M8.5 is nothing to keep the corporate boys happy. It will only mean an extra £5 - £10 on the entrance fee for the general public. There might even be a few thousand ££ left over to throw a bit of gravel over the car parks.

Utter rubbish, 8 1/2 mill would provide excellant facilities for the racing fan, posh loo's, hard surface car parks, good food, covered stands and so on but I guess we do not count for much. After all we will pay the extra I'm sure just to see the cars behind an even thicker wire mesh.

My thoughts exactly - after the fiasco in the rain this year and all they can think of is a media centre. So what's wrong with the old one?
They MUST sort out the spectator facilities - if it wasn't for the likes of us they wouldn't need a circuit at all.
