Thanks all, clearly I missed a moment of history.

If not for Petit Le Mans, this would be about as fitting a send-off as John Pew could have hoped for. Edit - #55 retires. Jeremy Shaw's "Oh gee..." says it all.... Last edited by J Jay; 17 Sep 2016 at 17:57. |

Great racing in GTLM again. I don't think Fisi was overly rough on that one. Tandy turned over the nose when he didn't need to.

Those problems in the #67 could be a championship for the #4

"Hey's there's 30 seconds left in the race ... let's lose the picture!!" "Hahhaha.... That's rich. They'd never guess we did it on purpose just to give them a one-finger salute."

Mazda has poor fuel consumption or something? They had to pit while no one else did.

It's Mazda ... maybe they had one foul-up left on their check list which they overlooked, so they had to take swift action to complete the plan.
I like the team and really want them to win ... but this has gone beyond annoying to the point where it is painfully comical. |

Maybe they have decided to study the top DP teams, like AXR and VisitFlorida ....

So, was there any problem with the track limits? I didn't notice anything while I was awake

They didn't seem to be running super wide like last year. The announcers mentioned they had put in some small "speed bumps" along the side of the track but I don't know if this was done at turn 19 or not. On a side note I will always remember this race for the video feed cutting out to black screen for most of the last lap and for John Pew getting stuck behind the advertising sign. I mean, why couldn't he just drive fast and then hit the brakes? Or find reverse? At one point he got a couple foot gap to the sign but instead of sharply turning around it, he just drove directly into it again |

tongue in cheek: the sponsor's marketing crew was happy - more airtime; also bonus for Pew for every full second that highlights the sign.

Just got a chance to see the race. I'll defend pew a little. It seems like trying to find reverse is an iffy propostion in those p2s to successfully find it, reverse, and go again without stalling. No defense for not braking harder to get rid of it tho.
Should we all just come to the understanding that next year will be a Ferrari/bmw fight for the championship in gtlm? Last year was porsche, this year we got the ford/Chevy battle, those two are next in line, right? Mazda is useless at this point. Its not even fun to hope anymore. Boring race overall. I did get a kick out of creamer on the last lap, as they were having technical difficulties again, pausing before saying "and we're gonna stay with you now".... As if cutting to a commercial with a half lap to go like they did during the previous technical difficulties was an option..... It all just comes across as amateur hour. And I like creamer. |
