Got to hand it to Kurt Rezzetano, he out-qualified all three Sprint-X GT Cup cars with a 2014 Mustang Boss 302R and covered 2nd in GTS by half a second. Pretty good for a guy that was a tire changer just a few years ago. His first pro race in 2013 at Barber for the GS race, he only qualified 13th, then drove it to 10th. Did the driver change and then for the 2nd stop, changed the front tires on the car he got out of. Plus, he works on his own car.

Fast cars vary pretty dramatically between the two practice sessions. Pat Long's Porsche was really strong in both & Parente wasn't too far back in either one.
http://files.world-challenge.com/eve...GT-GTA-GTC.pdf http://files.world-challenge.com/eve...GT-GTA-GTC.pdf Michael Cooper had the fastest time of the day during the first session, but per Sportscar365, had a crash in the second session. GTA/GT Cup Qualifying starts at 10:25 PT, with the GT cars hitting the track at 10:50 PT. |

That was the best Sprint X race of the year. Hopefully they can run the one tomorrow without a red flag. It was nice that they added on the time they sat during the red flag so the racers got in a full event. Then the battle at the end made it even more interesting.
GTS was pretty much as expected. The winners just outclassed the rest of the field by a longshot. |

Congrats to Toby on his first TC Championship. Still got two podiums and all he had to do is just finish the first race. The TC race was another epic one.
The TCB class has to be hands down, the most competitive in racing today. The action with that class where driving talent will get you a win is really demonstrated in that class. TCA was great too but it would be nice if something else other than old MX-5 Cup cars would run in it. It was like watching a two year old MX-5 cup race which is still good because of the closeness of the race. GTS is up in an hour and it should be a good one since Sandberg won the Championship yesterday for the Mid-Ohio race. So, this should be a one where nobody leaves anything on the table. |

What a GTS race! The battle for the last half was a driving clinic. Then 3rd and 4th ran hard too. All 4 drivers raced at 110%, none of that just running to finish. Good to see some great racing yet again. Last GT race will be up in an hour. Get ready.

It was a fun GTS race. Congratulations to Scott Heckert. Great drive by Andrew Aquilante. Good to see a Phoenix Mustang in the GTS class again. It was fun watching Nate Stacy, Harry Gottsacker and Scott Dollahite drive through the field also.

Great starts from the title contenders, Long back up to 2nd to hold off Parente who briefly got past into T1 but is now 3rd.
Big crash for Fuentes out of T3. You know what that means! |

If this happens in each SprintX round next year, the starting driver is never actually going to end up racing.....

And now Hamprecht puts the Bentley into the barriers between T3 and T4.

Yellows take so long it ends up being nearly a quarter the race at the end.

Another crash for an Audi, went into the barriers at T1 hard.
This might be it for the race and the title. |

Great grid, great track, but what a joke of a 'race' that was. Having this round as a single header has really done it no favours.
Is there another SX round later? |

Urgh, somehow that just makes it even more of a joke. Sorry for Pat Long.

Congratulations to Parente & K-Pax.
Was it O'Connell who ranted about GT Academy drivers not giving respect/room to other drivers? Keep it classy Johnny. |

Was the pass completed? O'Connell didn't seem to think so

Yes, it was completed to the extent that you don't punt off the championship leader after you made a mistake and he had to pass you. No doubt Long would have been happy with second but wasn't going to hang about after O'Connell went off.
After he's made a mistake like that, he's got no right to punt off someone passing him IMO. Real lack of respect in the commentary team not calling as it was either. That's not 'hard racing' and 'super exciting', it's a mess. Meh, I'm off to bed. |

If D. Warwick was a steward here, O'Connell would be penalized. Not that it would make any difference, but hey...
I agree with Rodger, that was a dirty move. As a former champion, he should know (much) better. |

PWC is Cadillac's series. Everyone else is just there for their benefit.
What a classless move by O'Connell. Cooper nearly did the same thing to Parente. |

That was a really unfortunate finale from top to bottom, with the comedy of finally realizing they'd mis-allocated points 2 hours before the start to the parade of safety cars, to the lack of clarity over a safety car finish, to the unnecessary contact that decided the championship.
I thought either of the main protagonists would be worthy champions but it was a bad way to end things, especially after last year's ridiculous finale. PWC has the ingredients of a great series but the races I have watched this year have been mixed at best. |
