Can Jam3s perhaps expand on his post? It is all a guessing game at the moment.

Wasn't it rumored Josh Kean actually tested the thing not long ago? Pretty sure it was an Auto Action sourced story though so take that for what it's worth

Heh, Supercars would like to have everyone think they have distanced themselves and have no involvement. The whole project reeks of arrogance and ego's unfortunately but given who's involved it could succeed.

Honestly given Supercars organisation non-involvement, this is a non-story.

Certain people who are suppliers to Supercars are trying to protect their interests but Chris Lambden is way off base with his vitriol.

Plus also... How can you get so upset of a "copycat" of something that is a "copycat" of an old Formula...

I'd think that Supercars does still have an involvement when you consider that they actually own the rights to the category.

The more logical question right now is how CAMS allowed 2 almost identical open wheeler categories to develop in parallel..

Does CAMS have a place where people are working on a possible future category with their own aims and interests?

What a load of rubbish. Supercars own the design, how is that non-involvement?

Your comment about Lambden's idea being just a "copycat" of an old formula is ridiculous. That is like saying V8Supercars is just a copycat of the original years of Group C. It's a modern rule-set using principles that proved successful in the past....just like the basis for V8Supercars

Supercars have a history of spraying vitriol of things they consider to be "copycat" formula's anyway, remember Junior Touring? Or is that OK because it's Supercars and they can do anything they want?

CAMS has proven itself to be pretty spineless especially over the last few years.

Thing is, you can have a ft5000 for 250k which has an engine which can run to 10k before major maintenance or another which will cost north of 400 with an engine requiring 5k rebuilds and the need for a dedicated engine technician at each round. The "other" 5000 doesn't even utilise a stressed rear end.

What they have though is the ability to support supercar rounds. It'll be interesting to see how it all plays out.

Why not wind yourself up some more.

Supercars in this case is a non-practicing entity, they did some design work, which they retain the rights to.

People like Fiorinotto are behind this and I can't see it ever seeing the light of day, for various reasons.

This is the key point.

Using the TCR example here as a comparison

The relationship between CAMS and Supercars also comes into question here.

It's nothing new in motorsport, regardless of discipline.

There'll always be multiple governing bodies, catagories that overlap, breakaway series, etc. It all boils down to egos and money in the end.

Well at some point one of them will wish to seek some sort of affiliation with CAMS.

Quotes from Supercars, Lambden and Greg Siddle is light on sources? I think your Peter Mckay dislike has gotten in your way of reading the article...especially as the article comes across more positively for Super5000 than FT5000.....

So does this Supercars car actually exist , has anyone seen a photo of this "car"?

I think it is just a myth.

If they are fair dinkum lets see some hard evidence, if not then let Chris Lambden get on with his project without unnecessary and unwarranted distraction.

If there is some ulterior motive then it is a pretty poor reflection on Australian motorsport.

Hasn't been visible to the public yet really it's still only allegations at this point this concept will never materialise

The fact that, according to the article, the "Super5000" concept is only intended to just be a support act at the main Supercars events is already a poor reflection on Australian motorsport
