I'm not sure there is technology for prevention - at least none that does not also prevent a lot of other things. That said the Gatwick reports I read suggested that it was the only major airport in the UK that did not already have anti-drone facilities in place. Presumably that was not entirely accurate.
I’m sure there must be tech available- if only currently in use by the military. This article was written in 2016.... https://www.theguardian.com/technolo...ystem-airports

It's everywhere. I have some lawyer friends who I first met when working in Turkey in 2003 and they still ask whether I've seen the endangered Caucasian Grouse that disrupted our pipeline and cost at least $3m.

I stopped really believing the media and, in particular, buying newspapers, about 20 years ago. At the time I was involved at a lowly level in operational planning for a number of military operations around the world over a 3 year period. I attended daily briefings with very senior decision makers and I reckon I had a pretty decent idea about what was going on and what was planned.

Needless to say, what was reported about those operations rarely matched reality. Clearly there were operational security reasons for some of the news black out but the media still reported things that were either blatant guesses or deliberate misinformation by the MoD. Probably both.

If it is happening in the defence realm, it is almost certainly happening in education, health, brexit, etc etc. News is "managed". Don't believe any of it!

I now live in happy ignorance!

I mentioned in another post that there are some Microcars down here in Spain that creep along and make a horrible rattling sound

I found out that you don't need a licence to drive it on the road and it is limited to 28mph, it's "powered" by either a petrol or diesel 500cc twin cylinder industrial engine and it is made in France, so we can blame them !!!!

Lots of them around & other brands too, including Ligier? Aren't they also sold in UK too these days?

... and yes, it is correct, you do not need a driving licence. There was a story a while ago concerning a gentleman who lost his driving licence, so he cloned a Smart car with the bodywork from one of these things, but he got found-out!

Yes John, you're a renowned specialist of French affairs now! We call those "des voitures de mémé", apart from annoying the trafic they offer mobility to many people and not only old widows. When we were young an naughty, during our vacation in Britany, we liked to spot old women driving a Comtesse. If you want an example of how much this dangerous piece of s... can be, imagine a 3 wheel Reliant -is that Robin?- to be declared the best handling and more secure car of the world, any era!!! What was "fun" to us is that when you take over a Comtesse at speed, there are many chances for the thing to go presto out of the road. Happy Days!

Haaa, John, did you hear about our "bank run" , 12th of January at 8? I find its a good way to protest. The game consists in taking as much money as you can via an automatic distributor. remember when we say "vote with your Visa?" This one is good, not dangerous and legal. If you secret code includes the F letter several times, you could have a bonus…

Yes, the price.... I always assumed they were cheap until I started looking into them on behalf of a friend who was thinking of upgrading her son from his electric bicycle. She decided it would be cheaper to just let him have her Ford Focus!

Hé bien ça, c'est le miracle Ã* la française, mon cher John! They look cheap, they are cheap, but expensive. But look, if you drive a Ligier and go for a cheap hotel Formule Un, you become a F1 Ligier driver!

All their shuttles are good. You just pays your money and then chooses the size to suit your car(s)......

Aixam are sold in the UK, and from memory you can drive them (quadricycle) here on a motorcycle licence. I’ve been past the factory several times- According to t’internet it’s at Aix-Les-Bains, but I thought it was on the side of the Autoroute near Lyon..... Maybe they’ve more than one location! Also according to t’internet Aixam are part owned by PSA and Polaris (American company that make ATVs, snowmobiles, jet skis etc.). So there must be money in the little cars.....

Thanks for the trailer advice, Mike.
We see the same Aixam warehouse or production plant on the same autoroute! Conclusion: we dont look in the right direction when driving there! In France, thing is you didn't need a licence to drive them and we had a debate about the insurance. They have mainly two types of clients, those having no licence while the others use to have one but lost it! It was hard to convince the insurance companies to cover the last ones but because, as you suggest, its a big business everything got sorted pronto…

Things have changed since 2013 I see. Only people born before 1988 dont need any license. If you've lost your license, you need a small licence to drive. Sorry I give up… Back to the panty thing!

They also used to be sold close(ish) to you at the Roydon service station on the A1066 just up from Diss - I pass it on the way up to Snetterton and remmember them on the forecourt.

A PR release from 2007 confirms: https://forecourttrader.co.uk/news/a...oved_site.html
