Am I correct (IIRC) that in V8SC you can only 'race' the car you've 'qualified'?
I seam to recall that when Whincup trashed his car at Hamilton 2 years ago Tripple 8 were offered another entry but they turned it down because it wasn't the right thing to do.

promax has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!

The rules allow this to happen, so its not illegal...

...as for morality... is it moral for a crowd to come watch their favourite driver, only for him to nerf the car into the fence early in the weekend, so the rest of the day they are disappointed at having nobody to cheer?

Close this loophole, and all will be well... or the noise will go away anyway!
**** happens

a game, match, etc isn't called off when a ticket paying fan's fav player gets injured.

I heard jmac say that they will start of the back of the grid at the next round as the car swap was seen as an engine change.

BlueBlood,
you are correct on both accounts.

Under our existing rules, changing cars is deemed to be an engine change [even though no actual engine change occurred in this instance]

John had to start off the rear of the Reverse Grid race because he was not classified as finishing the first two sprint race's.

I'm not sure what all of the fuss is about ? An entrant / team / driver has always been able to apply to the Clerk of the Course to run an alternative chassis in a situation like this and if permission to start is granted, then they would automatically start from the back of the grid because they havnt actually posted a time in that particular car.

From memory I think it was Andy McElrae who won a NZ Formula Ford Championship at Pukekohe by 'borrowing' another competitor's car for Race 2 after his own car had been badly damaged in a race 1 accident ???

It might not be 'morally correct' but I dont think it's ever been illegal.

Having said this I think cross entering of drivers / cars was banned in endurance races here in Oz to stop 'lead drivers' being able to swap cars during the race.

What about changing back into the old car again? Penalty or not?

What happened at Taupo? This was the last round of the series, wasn't it? Bairdo won?

Yep, Bairdo wrapped the title up with a race to spare, then drove from the rear of the grid in the reverse grid race to victory.
The rest of the final race resembled a B grade stockcar effort tho, with more than it's fair share of average driving....

Contratulations on the great racing these guys put on at the Hamilton 400, very entertaining racing, they really put themselves & there cars on the line. They seemed to run out of brakes fairly quickly The move to more modern body styles will be welcome too.
