S5000 on saturday was captivating, be even better if the engines were not covered but all shiny chrome.
TCR, short races good field lots of action, a few known names and some unknowns, fun cars, kept me interested As much as i love GT3 and GT bathurst 12 hour, the thin field, unknown drivers and long races had me reaching for a book. Production cars SHOULD be a good category, but its a ramshackle collection of cars, some very old, in different classes, most with only a couple of cars in it. Feels like its a club class for entrants "everyone gets a prize", geared to get anyone who fancies a go. A bit like the local senior cricket or footy club. Yet the field was still small and the races far too long; might have been fun for a 10 lap dash. I thought NZ got it right with their supercar supports. |

Should get the Aussie racing cars and Australian Superbike on the program with the S5000 cars. Now that program everyone would watch. |

Ironically under the engine covers are shiny polished cam covers, plus a big ugly K&N filter box

You could bolt a Lotus 72 style airbox onto the top of the engine and incorporate the K&N filter in it above the inlet trumpets whilst retaining the open engine look. I think it would give the cars a unique and raw look which would help to market the formula. Acres of fiberglass may be efficient but is not that interesting to look at. That is along the lines of the Lola 332 intake that they had on the initial cars. I agree an exposed engine would be a point of difference from other open wheel cars.
