Were enjoyable, but too many DNFs. That said the rear spring from 100 took at another 1-2 other cars out.

Reliability is something that the teams need to somehow sort before 2020.

Pretty good effort for the first year. Look forward to next season.

A lack of reliability is actually refreshing in this day and age of bullet proof motor racing.

Hadn't thought of it like that - I guess it adds another element.

Not sure the manufactures appreciate it though.

Was hoping to see the Subarus run with a bit more pace over the weekend. That will be something for Mildun MS to work through over the break.

I have been thinking about the reliability issue with the 500km Bathurst announcement.

Crash damage is part of racing and these things are very fragile.

I guess the fragility was the point I wanted to make before rather than reliability. GRM aim to improve the Renault through re-homologation with stronger parts.

You can see from the suspension failures from the first round - where some cars have been built stronger than others. Also engine failures too. Shouldn't be too hard to engineer solutions. That said we have seen suspension and engine failures in (V8)SC this year too.

More cars on the grid may make failure seem less apparent too.

Questionable reliability is a bonus factor for an enduro. Much more interesting than knowing they’ll all finish unless they crash...

Hi Mixer,

Maybe some of the various manufacturer's TCR variant's are "Very Fragile" however, IMO the regular form 'horses' like the Honda, and Hyundai are very strong car's, as TCR cars have high minimum weight's to meet, which means that all have factory OEM steel doors c/w side intrusion bars in place etc, so no need to skimp on critical components weight's.

Our Signature Homes, Hyundai TCR car survived a real wheel banging, 'wall of death' incident at Timaru a few weeks ago which snapped the inner rod end of the drop-link, and bent the caster rod, both of which we could have replaced [if we had a spare's at that time] in less than 5 minutes, which is nothing in a 24 hour race.

Compared to our Audi GT3 car our Hyundai TCR car is as equally tough, and a fraction of the cost to run.

The 24 hour Spa race was poorly supported because of very high cost's as none of the manufactures subsidised any of the teams so most of the drivers were amateurs bringing budgets of EURO 50,000 plus each. Which meant that some of the top teams like Target Competition didn't support the race.

The recently announced International TCR Bathurst 500K race will have significant interest from around the world, and as a Team, we will will be entering both of our Hyundai TCR car's in this stand alone event.

Cheers,

Mark Petch.

I agree 100%, until there is concern nobody (or close to it) can get to the end.

But, as above, its been pointed out these cars are already doing long races.
I have only been watching since our Aussie series started

Mark, what I think they need to address is DNFs due to very minor front to rear contact getting radiators etc, but I guess by doing so you start the death of a thousand paper cuts that ends up in a Supercar.
