ACO Live timing

How does the ACO live timing work? It's no where nearly as good as that available at the circuit where it is updated everytime a car completes a lap. The timing for the Grand-Am series (Zippo?) is also somewhat better. Still, I shouldn't complain, its come a long way in not many years.
