Looking good already - and as an added bonus for those who like to go autojumbling, I gather the stalls will be in a hall with heating this year.
Last year my credit card almost froze and I had to warm it with constant transactions. |

Winter Draws On?
Tim, I could only manage about 45 minutes at a time in the FREEZER! However it should be better this year
As soon as I get anymore details I'll add to this thread. |

Whilst Makinen was well on the way to winning in a Cooper S in 66 before retirement in Kielder and might have won the cancelled 67 event (he was fastest on the one stage run for TV) (and led other years in other cars than a Mini), he never won the RAC until 73/4/5 in an Escort. He did win an event in an "S" in the 90s that may have used the name "Historic RAC" and thats probably the car they are exhibiting. But we expect better historic accuracy from something calling itself the Historic Motorsport Show dont we? Looks like I'll be able to check, as I've just received an E mail from someone too young to remember telling me to be there!

If you check the link I gave you he won his class in 62. Thus it was a win.
You may consider that only outright winners are "winners" however the class system at that time did not distinguish as such. |

Yes it did have one overall winner - 62 was a "proper" Jack Kemsley forest RAC (and for many years even the previous "tests" RACs had had an overall winner).

Certainly looks enticing. Sadly its not worth a weekend away from Ankara for me so I hope you lot enjoy it.
Thec website presents a very professional approach and I just wonder if in the not too distant future, club racing in the uk will actually be Historic racing. Food for thought. |

Looks like a good selection of cars will be in action outdoors again - last years short stage was good (but really, really cold). Looking forward to seeing the slowly sideways crowd in action again.

I think it is more likely to be Aaltonens winning car from 1965. I hope to attend on Sunday. Last edited by M Coupe; 5 Feb 2005 at 12:02. |

A word to the wise - I was in the hall for setup of the show yesterday, and the organisers have not addressed the heating problem as promised.
In a word, it's freezing in there. So wrap up warm, and I mean WARM - there's a lot of snow on the ground, but the exhibits are rolling in. |
