Lee Purnell should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
The latest news on this is that there will be a seperate race for class A cars!
Large grid numbers have led to this decision, with a host of new cars in the calss, including a Pug 306 & a Volvo!

Whar about Rick Rowles and that guy in the Sunny are they racing this year ?

That Volvo is a 480. Nice........ should be able to take the dog along and have a picnic.

Well, an interesting day - Saloons were pretty good, but diluted by having 2 races, surely the quickest Scriocco in the country in class B??

And perhaps the shortest ever debut by a manufacturer, in the form of a Seat Ibiza crashing out after 4 laps - a sizeable impact..

The Seat

The driver twisted his back on impact - a trip to hospital for him, however the car doesn't look too bad, hopefully it will pull out okay - a pity as is was brand new and immaculate.

The Ferrari 308 that dropped it at the start line in practice survived pretty well for such an impact.

Glad to hear it wasn't too bad for the Ibiza driver, he didn't look too well when I got to him.

I have to agree with Dan though, it would be better to revert to 1 race if there aren't a few more cars on the way. And where was Rick Rowles?

No Keith MacAskill, No John Moon, No Duncan Rickards, No Gus Singh and some sick cars retired early. Running them alone looks good, Ilsa kicked some butt... Go on girl !! Prebble's Tomcat ate its tyres within 6 laps.
I think it was nice to see them competing on a level playing field without them tripping over back markers. The racing over the whole day was quite clean, which was quite good as it was my first day as a marshal....

Glad to hear you had a good first day, where abouts were you?? Saloons missed a few of the bigger names, which was a shame.

The Seat accident was a strange one, the sort that 95 times out've 100, the driver would have walked away. Not sure if Cox, Prebble, Wiliamson will keep their places though. Lot's of officals upset with their speed past the incident - certainly looked quick from where I was standing...

Best drive of the day was the 308 driver who came second in the Ferrari race, beating many more expensive, newer and quicker cars in the process, think he appreciated us willing him on every time he came past...

The Top three have lost their places, speed under Yellow Flags to blame.

This means that Mr Cox wins, in his new 306. Is it an ex rally car do you think?

Still no news on Rick's new car, but he is intending to use the new ELMS BMW M3 colour scheme! Well, thats just a rumour but read what you will into it!

Any pics yet Jeff???????

I got the Seat crash and also a couple FFords decided to make it an expensive season opener as well.
Which corners were you at Dan and Marshall ?

Jeff, Dan and I were at Tower, I was the chap who went down to the guy in the Ibiza. I can confirm that the first three didn't look like they slowed significantly to me, from that vantage point. Hopefully those missing and more will turn up for the next meeting, which after a short think about it, I've decided to go to. Touring cars at Thruxton, what was I thinking

Dan, I was at Post E the exit of Esses. It was very quiet there. In the Road Saloons we had a Golf go sideways into the ploughed infield, the car dug in and over it went. It was only a gentle roll and the guy got it all back together for the race and finished top 10. He was very appreciative on the slowing down lap.

It is a shame about Ilsa as she really impressed me, she certainly has the Pug sorted. However rules are rules....

Are there any 10 tenths T-shirts in existence ?

How the hell do you clean Probans ? Rookie and all that I fell on my arse and I have a dirty great stain on my brand new Probans.

NICKR... Proban cleaning, as from Albright & Wilson Ltd - who make the stuff..

Can be dry cleaned, or washed on a non colour fast cotton article programme (40 degrees). But only use the following washing powders..

Ariel, Daz, Surf (and Surf Auto), Dreft, Fairy Non Biological.

Do not use..

Lux Soap Flakes, Persil and all supermarket homebrands (as these contain Hypochlorite which kills proban).

Proban can be safely washed hundreds of times when done correctly.

Back to the Saloons, think the top three deserved to lose the their places, just too quick past the incident..

Cheers, something for the wife to have a go at.

Can anyone tell me what has happened to Tim Hanlon ?

There seemed to be a lack of class B regulars as well.

I agree with you Dan, I didn't notice any of them lift off as they passed the incident vehicle. One of the incident crew actually stopped Nick Williamson at the end of the race and started having a go at him !

Also it was nice to see Norman Lackford back in the GTs as it was touch and go to whether he was going to rebuild his Saxon.

By the way, is this the elusive Dan ?

Guys, I agree. I didn't see all of this going on from where I was. If I were in the same situation even as a rookie I wouldn't be too pleased. Reading Autosport Cleal got the win from Brian Cox. The Guy who rolled in the Road Saloons has his own website so I dropped him a mail. He was 5th in Class one place behind his dad!!! Someone offered to buy his car from him after the race. He was very appreciative and thankfull to all the marshals who helped.

CAR 42 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid

I am still around and looking at all the questions that are
asked like where is the MAD S_D answer I came I saw then went
home to have some tea .
Lee sorry mate so busy helping white ford man and red ford man
(fred)didn't have much time for a talk .
The mini(gearbox)has know been repaired must say thank you to
Andy from Merlin for all his time in helping to put the box
back together.
So I will be selling that complete with my trailer and spare shell
and lots of other bits.
The other car well I have a 8 point cage ready to go in but due
to the lack of people to help its taking longer than I thought
cause its only me work on it at this time.

The saloon racing was good the revised results 100% correct its not
Just the driver's that could possibly get hurt just think of
the marshals these guy's risk a lot to pull driver's from cars
and drivers should slow down under yellow or white flags
end of story ...........

MAD RICK
