Tony Harman should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Thought I might as well get these threads kicked off for the season - Malletman has usually done it by now but since he ain't racing perhaps I'll do it for him
Easter Monday - Thruxton circuit - 1st round of the BARC Classic Package for this year. Extended to 10 rounds now, usual suspects... the CSCC boys will no doubt put on an interesting display of synchronised door handling - what you reckon Mr TinTin - three abreast through the chicane possible ???, some interesting changes in cars this year, see Mr Garret has gotten himself a Chevvy. Quite a few 10/10ths drivers in CSCC, Stacy's RX7 is entered, Jos has got his VW GTI out, I think someone around here has an SD1 lurking, no www.TheGrid though - I think Steve has his car up for sale right now. URS FF2000 look like they've got a really good entry, Classic Clubmans gets chanpionship status this year and a good mix of class A & B, the class A cars should be the quickest thing there on the day (got to say that since that's what I'm racing this year). Also supporting are Healeys - always entertaining in a tail slapping kinda way, and Classic Porsche's - should be fun.
Anyone fancies a coffee come over and say hello
Classic Clubmans - Haggispeed Mk9b - No 22

It looks a good meeting. And:

'The Classic Clubmans movement will take another major step forward with its biggest grid yet for the opening race of the 2001 season at Thruxton on Easter Monday, April 16th. A total of 22 cars are due on the grid and at least another 10 cars are currently being prepared for the series, which runs regularly as part of the BARC Classic Package this season.

New cars to the series scheduled to appear at Thruxton include the rare Ellova of Tony Maher, which was originally conceived and raced by Sid Marler. Meanwhile, Gavin Childs, son of Classic Clubmans prime mover David, will debut his ex-Hugo Tippett Gryphon C75 following a shake down test at Mallory.

Elsewhere in the entry, Tony Harman will have his first race in the superbly presented Haggispeed Mk9, previously owned and raced by Jan Langdon.'

A mention in the press release!!

Why I'm I going to Combe?? I'm almost tempted to change my mind...

Normally plenty of incidents - infact the race was started 3 times last year due to startline comings together.
Will try and say hello Tony !

Go on Dan - you know you want to - the urge is just too much - resistance is futile.... Anyway the beer's better at Thruxton !
Where did you see that Press release - not often I get my name in lights, usually when I'm falling off the circuit, and last time they didn't even know it was me !
Be good to see you there Slowcoach - long way round Thruxton... hope you've got a stereo in that car !

Never had a pint at Thruxton.. too much Fosters on sale.

I'm trying to persuade others, but the Thruxton phobia is hard to shift.

10 races you say, that'll be a new record at this venue!!

Press release was on www.racecar.co.uk

Yup the Tintin mobile will be there.

I had an awful race last year with my first sight of the track being the practise session and not having big enough cahonny's for the flat out sections.
Looking for a better result this year. I'll be in the paddock if anyone fancies a chocolate hobnob!

Good luck folks. I'll be there in spirit. Which reminds me. I've been doing a lot of falling over recently. Nothing to do with the vodka although it helps. I've been learnig to ski. So far its the countryside 20 and Mallettman 0.

Well there it was - first round of the Classic championship for this year. I think a good day was had by everyone. Nice to see some of the 10/10ths gang there, Liz, TimD & Bluebottle. Sorry didn't get a chance to meet with Andrew, Jos, Slowcoach - did have a quick wander round to try and find you all but no luck, saw Andrew's car but no driver, what number / colour is your SD1 Slowcoach, and your Golf Jos ? - how did you all get on ?
When I've got a little more time I'll give a quick race report for first time out in the car.
