you must be new to racing, my friend. a 500cc Grand Prix bike will smoke any and all Superbikes. that includes 750cc and 1000cc's in top speed, acceleration, handling, braking - the whole lot

OK, I'm not a huge motorbike fan (in fact this is the first time i've posted on the motorbike forum), but I'd have to say GP bikes.

Not so hasty now.

I love the GP bikes, but have watched the Supers for longer as their is a (now somewhat tenuous link) to the old production bikes that I watched live when in my youth. GP bikes back then only came out for the Swan series in our summer.

I like both really. I don't believe there is such a thing as too much motorsport, especially when it's on two wheels.

Hi all!
Wow, this is the first time I've ever posted anywhere on a motorcycle topic.
Which is better? Well, I just judge them by the racing, as I have no idea about their respective performance. For the last couple of years, GP500s have blown almost everything away in terms of the quality of the racing (and I'm speaking as mainly an F1 and CART fan here). I gave up on superbikes a while ago, although I did have a lapse and watch the second Donington race on Sunday - I saw nothing there to get me to come back. I must also say though that the Eurosport commentators for the GPs add to the excitement - they're complete nutters!!!

Come on, no rider won the first three Superbike races by a country mile.
on the commentator side, bring back Keith and Julian for the SBK's and GP's

how do both yamaha AND suzuki think so, suzuki are competing in both series, and are doing better in the superbikes, frankie has won a race and the Suzuki GP team hasn't won a thing this year.

Well Suzuki are thinking of pulling out of SBK at the moment due to the lack of rules letting the 4 cylinder bikes keep up with the twins.

Yamaha have quit WSB for GP and Suzuki are thinking of doing the same. Hence GP is better.

Better? Better what? Better performance? Better competition? Better food served in the stands? Better pit babes?

For me, GP has a slight edge because of the variety of tracks they race on. Although, did anyone see the Road America race last weekend? That's entertainment. And it's great to see Miguel Du Hamel still straping it on.

I'd say GP bikes just....
Love watching both series and especially think the supers are great on a track where slipstreaming is a factor like Hockenheim. Very hard to pick the winner at times on tracks like the above and always seems to be a fantastic race. That being said, the GP bikes are at the top of the tree in my book

i'm fairly new to bike racing but the GP's get my vote! the races are more fun to watch, probably cos of better tv coverage than the **** u get with the bbc (who put very little effort into sport unless it's footbal, tennis, golf or horseriding!) but the GP's also seem more exciting the riders are more willing to take chances!

what can I say GP bikes are the best. 125, 250 and 500!!
You can't beat the unpredictablity of the prototype machines.
It's an area where new parts actually make a difference. And its just SO hard to ride those things (Chris Walker will vote for that one)

I do watch the superbikes though (troy corser grew up down the road), its funny how different countries like others things better (ie. england=superbike), it must have something to do with the boardcasting.
