It's all gone quiet out there! Get your brain round this one.

I have taken the gear linkage off of my mk2 (1989)VW Golf GTI 16 valver. It needs a referb. Getting it off was a bit of a pain.

Is any1 out there able to help with any advice on how to best set it up and refit or am I gona have to just struggle on without any help from my fellow piston heads??

Come on be a love and type out some help!!

git should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
How much of the linkage have you removed?
If you have not loosened the pinchbolt that locks the main selector rod from the gear lever, then you should be ok to reassemble the rest of the linkage. Get a linkage from TSR that does away with the flimsy plastic sockets.
If you have loosened the selector rod pinchbolt you're going to have to realign the linkage for throw and lateral gear selection.
I'd recommend you obtain a Bentley manual for the car as it shows how the gear lever is located dimensionally so that the gears are where you want them.

Finally got it all back together and set up correctly. Was being a bit of a spanner with the ball and socket (base of gear stick) but got there in the end. Now I find that the problem with owning a non-road legal track car is the testing of repairs.
