Negus debuted the Commodore in 1981, Hooley was racing a Commodore as a sports sedan.
In 1980 both raced their Toranas in Sports sedans.

First time I've heard it suggested the HDT A9X went to Hooley.

Love your work, do you know anything about the David Drew sports sedan? Anyone who might know?

Hooley never owned the Negus hatchback. I think the owner at the time is the same "Young" on the windscreen of the car.
Graham's car was a yellow SS built up to A9X specs which is now being restored over east. I try not to get involved in the A9Xs too much, as I can't even keep the L34 info from spilling back out of my tired aging brain.
Was the Drew Sports Sedan a Torana or Commodore?

Drews sports sedan was not from the stable of the General, mid 70s in WA, ex Edmondson BMW Repco, same basic spec as the Bob Jane Repco before Frank Gardner stuffed a F5000 motor in it.
Had to ask, back to the L34s.

(PE007) The Commodore that debut in late 1989 by Gibbs / Onslow and driven by Kevin Bartlett in his last Bathurst and Russell Ingall his first Bathurst in 1990 is the GIO (Forbes) car in England.

Which "old Aussie tourers"? Group C, A, STW or V8 Taxis?

I’m sure we will still see the old cars on the historic stage. I have a feeling one day the V8s of recent times will be out on the historic stage when the time comes.

To each his own, I was thinking of the v8 Supercars, GrA have an international market as do STW.
Its the cars with no claim to fame in question.

Thanks for clearing that up.
I think they'll have their interested parties here but I doubt they'll end up anywhere near as valuable as Group A cars and STW because, as you say, they have no international relevance. This, combined with the complexities of the newer Supercars, is why I wouldn't invest in one, quite simply they'll be too expensive to maintain.

You could always get hold of a reasonable chassis, drop in a BMW go fast driveline up to the diff and run it in Sports Sedans

No shiney, I've surfed through though.
Is that the Bob Forbes Torana above that has been suggested to be the car Wayne Negus ran at Claremont Speedway.

No mate. The speedway car was the one Wayne drove into the dam at Sandown. I am looking for its replacement. The first GMP&A race car built by Holden.

G,day David,
Do you know the purchaser? I would like to ensure that he is on the L34 mailing list for the newsletters. He (or anyone with an L34) can message me on 0428 308 202.
Cheers. Laurie.

Sorry Laurie, I can't help you there. The purchaser is unknown to me and asked my mate who sold him the car to keep his identity to himself.

I'm a bit of a fan of Jonny Smith aka CarPervert, ex Fifth Gear and lots of other publications/shows. Anyway, look what shows up in his latest video.

Brock's old Group A Sierra, sitting doing nothing in a suburban garage in Preston UK. Bloody shame it's not used in anger.

A big thanks to all on here who take their toys out to play so we can still enjoy them.
