What happened to Marc Hynes?
Hi everybody
This is my first post at this board, and I’ve seen there are som very informed people here, so I thought it would be a good place to ask the question: What happened to Marc Hynes? Where are he now and what is he up to? Besides the occasional F3000-races and a BAR-test, he’s been nearly invisible since he took the British F3-title in -99 (beating both Burti and Button to it) What happened? …..anyone? Cheers! |

There was something a month or so back that he may be racing Formula Renault V6 but I havn't heard anything since. Just a case of loads of talent but no money I'm afraid.

Last race I saw him in was the F3000 race at Silverstone 2003, apparently the HANS devise caused him a lot of discomfort so he couldn't really show his full pace, also he was 'race rusty'. I feel sorry for the guy cos like you say, he beat Button and Burti in F3...

Didn't he driver coach for Lewis Hamilton last year? He was at most of the F3 races, kicking about Manor and Hamilton's car.

Agree - top driver, top bloke.
Very suprised he hasnt opted for sports cars, especially as he accepts that it is unlikely he will raise a budget to do a top single seater catergory. |

You are right Boomer top bloke this is a driver with all the talent and little funding and he never cracked the big time SHAME.
I am sure he will be back and hopefully in a factory sports car he would run with the best at that level he proved that in F3. |

I think Marc is of opinion that sportscars and touring cars aren't the real deal. He's only interested in single-seaters – fair enough really, as long as he doesn't moan about not having a drive.

Well has he tried Touring Cars or Sportscars to come to the conclusion? maybe he could try and get a test in a BTCC car in the near future, he may like it!

I think he'd be in for a few surprises if he tried racing with a roof over his head. The standard of drviing is very high, the cars seem like great fun to drive and certainly a challenge, and the stamina needed for sportscars is awe-inspiring. Driving in those classes makes more sense than doing nothing.
It's extremely sad that he failed to get a budget together for F3000. His talent speaks voulmes, and what we've seen from him in recent years hasn't shown his full potential - one-off deals rarely do. |

Marc's 'track' record has shown him to be a winner in all the series he has had a proper drive, he has driven against the best and come out ahead.
It is tradgic that he never got the f3000 drive his talent deserved. F3000 over the past few years has needed a quality British driver to give a greater UK interest in this series. Marc could have been the man for the job, given the chance UK interest would have hit new heights and funding would have flooded in |
