Hi - if anyone reads this - I would like to know where this is and when. My best guess is 1990 Fuji 500 AIWA sponsored car - but the Continental logo is different to the Continental logo on the front shots of the AIWA car.

I would say it's 1991, see the Cenovis banner on the rear window.

I would say Bathurst 1992, as I don't think they ran with Continental Airlines backing on the car in 1991.

Only thing is the logo on the rear bumper, it is not on the car in the 1992 Top 10 Shootout lap.

This is car #10, apparently from Bathurst 1992:

And car 9 in 1991, with what looks like the "Town & Country Bank" logo on the rear bar:

As seen here: https://youtu.be/lelcMQK4Z4s?t=4m9s

And the #9 car blowing out turbo smoke here; with the "Town & Country Bank" logo slightly more legible: https://youtu.be/SN60M1oqJIk?t=6m30s

So the original picture would have to be from Bathurst 1991.

The picture is from 1991 as I previously mentioned. See the attached photo from 1991 with Charlie O'Brian and Gianfrance Brancatelli driving.

I think this car stayed in Asia after this race. A car bearing a near-identical livery with the same dark-blue-interior-with-grey-rollcage appears at Macau in 1989 (#6, driven by Gio Fan). The review video shows it exiting the race by crashing nose-first into the barriers.

The only other record I can find of what I believe to be the '88 Edwards car is - oddly enough - at Bathurst in 1992! Recently unearthed copies of Auto Action suggest that the #36 car (Ent: Rod Jones, Drv: Ken Mathews / Rod Jones / Mike Newton) was an ex-Rouse brought across from Asia. The livery of that car bore the same dark blue/white base scheme of the Kaliber cars. Coincidence? I think not.
...and now back in the UK, confirming the history we thought- ARE 0988, 1988 Guy Edwards BTCC car, then Macau with Rouse, sold to Adrian Fu, then to AUS for Bathurst 1992 with Rod Jones et al. Since then it's been in NZ

A year or 2 ago the rebuilt on the car was completed and it was entered in a NZ historic series:

Racing Sierras

Dear all.

I work for a TV production company in Melbourne, Australia and this week our distributors are attending the MIPtv conference in Cannes to drum up interest in a documentary pitch featuring the racing Sierras of the late 80s.

In fact our story ends at the end of the all conquering 1988 season. Now this is a long shot, as I doubt very much whether you would be allowed through the gates with a video or cine camera back then, but we're putting the call out for any footage of any teams worldwide that raced the Sierras up until the end of 1988.

We're looking for anything whatsoever. Teams at work on a Sierra in the paddock or pit lane would be fantastic and if anyone was lucky enough to visit a team workshop during the week and has some footage, we'd welcome that too.

If you can help or know someone that can, please do not hesitate to contact me at david@carpentersmess.com

So I've just come across this thread which references Mark Rennison's 1988 BTCC entry but no images of the car, could this be it? I found it on Google images linked to a now deleted Facebook page so cannot get a higher resolution version of the image.

BTCC was sponsored by Dunlop and RAC in 1988 and Mark Rennison entered in 1989 for the Thruxton rounds and the National Silverstone round.

He ran #9 in 1989, so I'd say so!

That certainly looks like a 1990 era BTCC Paddock to me (and probably Thruxton too).

flatlandsman has been held in scrutiny for further testing
He did run with factory rally colours, it was an ex Rouse car I believe from 88, But all his usual rallycross sponsors went away as I gather DSRM went bust and they funded his rallycross team. Hence why nothing on this car. Mark was supposed to be racing a copy of his RS200 at Lydden recently but failed to attend for some reason, he also has done Pikes Peak a few times. I do not believe he did any BTCC in 1988 as he was still doing rallycross.

I think he only did 1 or two rounds in 89 then disappeared, but I gather he did the odd Thundersaloon drive.

I saw him at the June Silverstone round in '89. By then the car was plain white....
I think he qualified reasonably well, albeit towards the tail of the Sierra brigade, but not sure if he finished.
