Hopefully it will be released at the same time in the UK as in Europe this time, although for GTR that was because the UK was later getting a distributor (Atari).
I think its one of those titles I'm going to have to go and buy on release day. |

Any news on GTR2 from E3 at all?
Summer is here, and we have no release date still... |

Summer isn't until June 21st. It's Spring. It may be hot for spring, but it's not summer yet.
Anyway, maybe they meant Summer 2006 in Australia |

At the risk of blowing my own trumpet... here's something to keep the appetites whetted...
24 Hours of Adrenaline The second "GTR 2 - FIA GT Racing Game" trailer shows all the exciting action of the Proximus 24 H race in Spa-Franchorchamps Darmstadt/Vara, Germany/Sweden, May 10th 2006. Developer Simbin Development and Publisher 10TACLE STUDIOS AG have something special for the E3 in Los Angeles - the new video from the racing sensation of 2006: "GTR 2 - FIA GT Racing Game"! This hot new in-game material focuses on exciting long-distance races, where GTR 2's new dynamic day/night cycles finally allow them to run real-time. It's man vs. machine up against the limit as they fight for precious seconds and rank in the Proximus 24H Race in Spa-Franchorchamps. Changing light and weather conditions and track stretches which dry at different rates determine strategy and keep both teams and drivers keyed to fever pitch as they go the distance. Each and every scene in the new trailer is taken directly from the game itself! Check out the unbelievably photo-realistic cars and tracks, the impressive weather effects and the detailed damage model. Hear the exciting commentary from no less than Eurosport racing commentator Martin Haven, the original voice of the FIA GT TV broadcasts! GTR 2 is the official simulation of the FIA GT Racing Series. More than 140 highly detailed race cars, a choice of 34 different track designs, breathtaking graphics and outstanding physics provide incredible variety in the race for the championship. GTR 2 will be hitting PCs everywhere in summer 2006. Racing fans have the opportunity to see for themselves on the official GTR 2 website www.gtr-game.com <http://www.gtr-game.com/ > . |

Although this is going slightly off topic, ive heard that GTR2 is far more forgiving for beginners, I hope this doesn't translate into being a "dumbed down" game.

My understanding is there will be driving schools etc. ways to help work in new 'simulation' players - I don't think dumbing down beyond that it's providing better tuition to the uninitiated is what that means.. |

Hopefully you all picked up on this lovely video from E3 though right?
http://www.4players.de/4players.php/...oad/45260.html This is the one with the Martin Haven voice over. Seen somewhere something that said Q3 2006 release too. I guess that's to be expected, as there's only 6 weeks of Q2 left. |

I'll definitely be buying this, i've wanted a decent sim for ages, but my PC has never been up to scratch (it went out of date and lost performance about 5 years ago )
Anyway, the game looks brilliant, especially the graphics and the day/night transitions. I love the fact that certain parts of the track dry quicker than other parts, that will make the game so much more interesting, and it's that sort of attention to detail that makes games great, rather than good. Roll on summer 2006! |

Anyone from Simbin care to say if GTR2's 3D engine has been tweaked or optimised at all since GTL?
Running GTL on my (quite high spec) machine is a mix of smooth racing, with moments of severe slowdown (when passing the pits mostly). Running ATi X1900XTX with a AMD 4000+ San Diego and 2GB DDR400. |

Its funny, after being a little disappointed with GTL, I've moved back to GTR (which I can now run very well with my replacement ATI card) and, with the prototypes I've downloaded, I'm now loving it. Yes, I do 99.9% of my running at Le Mans, but then hey, you'd expect me to....... I'm looking forward to GTR2.

I'll keep a look out for that. I remember when the original GTR demo came out with the Spa track, being amazed at the transmission sound. I'm looking forward to it.
