Is the car Block is using at Adelaide the Olsberg fiesta rather than the M-Sport Fiesta ?

I'm not in Adelaide but most likely he's in the Olsberg car - he uses Olsberg for his Gymkhana cars, M-Sport for his rally cars. This is very much a Cymkhana appearance.

When he came to Oz in 2011 for a Gymkhana event, it was right before Rally Australia (like, 3 days before or something like that) - he used the Olsberg car for the Gymkhana event at Calder, then the M-Sport car at Rally Australia.

The Olsberg car doesn't have the WRC restrictions so is much more powerful and set up better for the Gymkhana / rallycross work.

Whilst I understand that it's all part of professionalism, I think that I am sick of seeing drivers holding onto their sponsors drink product already.CL took it to a new level yesterday with the fancy red bull drink with the long straw and i lost count of how many times he pretended to have a drink during an interview.

Cromley is being awfully quiet in commentary.

Also, is the online stream bandwidth-dependent or is what looks like 360p as good as it gets? Quality isn't that great when expanded across a full laptop screen and its hard to tell the cars apart sometimes.

Aren't the CotF meant to be faster than the old cars? So far Lonwdes' fastest lap is a second slower than the previous fastest lap!

Did they just say Maro Engel is residing in the streets of the Gold Coast? But harsh, surely Erebus can pay for a motel for him....

It is the first outing for these cars - they've had quite a few seasons to get used to the 'Blueprint' generation cars so they know how to tune them pretty well but it will take a while to get that level of knowledge in the CoTF generation.

I think increased pace wasn't ever the main goal of CoTF, it was meant to be reduced cost (which alot of people suggest it hasn't really achieved) and a ittle extra speed was only a by product.

I think that they're even within 1.5 seconds of the old records is actually pretty impressive for a first go (regardless of the testing they've done - the info would be limited when you compare a semi-street track like Clipsal versus Sydney Motorsport Park).

I would guess that we'll see a bit of a jump in pace tomorrow again in both quali and the race tomorrow.

Pretty funny that the car with the police car paint scheme is getting bad sportsmanship flag. That paint scheme isn't as good as John Faulkner's one, whenever it was when he used it.

a few points...

*sarcasm mode* well the same two teams are winning again...34 races and counting...another long season (yawn!) *end sarcasm mode*

full credit to GRM, both drivers in the top 6 a great effort, and also kudos to HRT for showing some good speed. looks like the season could be a beauty (if other drivers can get to the top of the podium).

bit of bad luck to both BJR and Tekno, both teams look strong, had it not been for reliability the race would have been a lot closer.

and to update on my previous post on rule tweaks, i understand that most engines will get torn apart after a certain amount of k's, but not all teams build their own engines (Triple 8 is a prime example).

and one last thing, there should be NO crew members in parc ferme after the race (yes, i'm in angry mode again), the only people near the top three cars should be the drivers ONLY, you look at F1, they are not allowed to touch the cars at all, for all we know they could change a small setting to make sure their cars are legit. (okay, angry mode off).

that's my views on the first race of the season...
