John Watson should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Mgcc Thankyou

A quick but very big thankyou from the MGCC to all the Marshals and Officials who supported our season opener at Silverstone. To see such great numbers, (191 of you in total), out on a cold and windy but dry day was very reassuring for another successful year. I did get round to all but one post, (Becketts Out), so to those posted out there and to any one I missed to personally say thankyou, I do so now.

Also thanks go to Don Lawrence, Paul Stilling, Fay and Alan Crook, and Clive Wayland for their help with sign-on and their input during the day.

We had nine races with pretty good grids, a one hour lunch break, and finished at 5.15pm. This was only achieved due to the expertise and enthusiasm of every one of you who helped us to have a very successful day.

I hoped that you all enjoyed the day, and will be able to join us at our next meeting at Rockingham on Sunday May 15th.

Once again grateful thanks, see you soon,

John Watson - Chief Marshal MG Car Club

After almost not getting there, I had a really good day. Great to see the support that MG can muster at this trying time for them.
See you at Rockingham.

Can I add a thanks from the drivers as well, it was good to see so many of you again, at a well run meeting with good grids that stuck to the timetable.
I think MGCC will continue whatever happens to MG Rover JLD, they were around long before and will hopefully be going for many years yet. They operate totally independantly.

What I refered to was the support of the X-Power crew. Talking to a couple of them, they are commited to supporting the race series. It would be easy for them to say "let's wait and see", but they were there.

And I do realise that the MGCC are in no way connected to MG-Rover, I've served on the committee of one of the MGCC's registers for the past few years.

Sounds like the MGCC is continuing its rep for efficiency, when others fall by the wayside. Well done.

Nice to see a few names I know mentioned in dispatches there.

John,

Always a pleasure to marshal for the MGCC. May I also add my thanks for the limited edition TC model, it will look very nice sat on top of my PC monitor. Unfortunately I can't do Rockingham due to holidays but look forward to the big meeting at Silverstone in July.

'Cos I did my back in at work earlier nt he week, I had the most brilliant of days 'shadowing' John, and I can tell you just how much he puts into the organisation of the meetings - absolutely nothing! Only joking, he puts 110% into it and it shows by the esteem he received when trawling around the posts, it was a privilege for me to observe that and to feel part of it. I had a great day apart from having just visited Beckets on our way back, the blasted clutch went on my MGB, so thanks to Grant for tugging me back to race control and the RAC for getting me home!

Yes it was great days racing, and it seems all enjoyed themselves.
here's to our 'reunion' at Rocky in May

Cheers
Clive

I really missed not being able to marshal this - ankle still isn't up to it

I did pop along to see one race - again an MGB owner with car trouble - started out with a blown out tyre (thankfully we were going slowly!) and ended with the jacking point ripping off! I think it might prove to be expensive! Still, the race I did see was absolutely stunning - Mike Holmes's Bridget the Midget is soooooooo quick!

And as I forgot on the day Mike,

Hopefully, I'll be back to full fitness for Rockingham - if not, I will try to get along to spectate, if I can find a driver to get me there as ankle might struggle with the drive!

It was fun to marshal at Silverstone, a first for me, but the last signiture before upgrading to Specialist. Great team of folks to work with. Many thanks for the little MG car, a very nice touch from the MG Car Club. I'll be helping out at Silverstone again, twice i believe this year for the MG club so hope too see all the start grid marshals again. Nice touch that there was a skip full of useful MDF on hand for the "Skip Rat" and I to plifer. Gertie will be up and ready for the MG International at Silvertone,---- the answer to Life, the Universe, and Marshaling.......
