Just like Will Davison driving a Honda Motorbike while at Erebus according the Ten graphics. Even when he was personally sponsored by Ducati.
But then we don't pay for the Ten coverage... |

#33 was Leanne's number DVS when she drove for GRM.
He wasn't fussed either way. |

As expected.
Likewise the uproar, due the fanbase's lack of understanding in how big business works, and of how Volvo goes about its motorsport... |

The Supercars media machine didn't do much to help the situation either...

The catalyst for Volvo were changes in upper management in Sweden, along with other corprorate matters relating to Polestar and Cyan.
The V8SC program was a complicated arrangement that they had little control over, so naturally it had to go. It's marketability was actually very good, and the Australian arm has gone on record at various points during the three years, stating that enquiries off the back of their activation within the program, were on the up and up. We can bash Mr Warburton over this until the cows come home, but it's unjust and innacurate. For Volvo Cars Australia, and GRM, it was a very successful campaign, and went against what the other manufacturers involved in the catagory were, and are, experiencing. As with most European-based car makers, the motorsport program is dictated from the very top of the corporation, not so much the marketing department. Ford Aus eventually went this way as well. |

And most of the world gets electricity from coal... Batteries in hybrids are an environmental disaster - lets be careful not to pat ourselves on the back just for shifting where the emissions are. They are not eliminated in most places.

Good point! Tesla and Prius enthusiasts should be mindful of their toxic batteries.

Of course it likely has a lot to do with product on sale, and a full dealership realignment, yet year on year Volvo was said to be off on sales by as much as 20% for 2017 v’s 2016...
Now only had they stayed in Supercar |

A dealership staffer I spoke to earlier this week told me they were considering turning the franchise in, they've held for close to 30 years.
The mandatory re-modelling of the showroom and service reception every 5 years is no longer stacking up against the dwindling sales, which started sliding mid-'16, having been one of NSW regional's best-selling Volvo dealers for '14/'15 |

And what were the sales like in 2016 compared to 2015, and 2015 to 2014?

New car sales figures only make up part of the equation.
Generating interest in the brand, getting people into the dealership to buy simply anything, whether it be new or used, and then getting them through the service department after the sale, is all part of the bigger picture. |

It's worth restating for the record that Volvo Cars Australia was still keen to be in Supercars, but head office in Sweden pulled the pin on the program.

I suppose that Nissan sales tanking in Australia is a reflection of them not doing well in Supercars. As stated there is way more to car sales than a competition image. Volvo knew that their future plan was to ditch all IC motors beginning shortly, China has dictated a sales percentage of electric vehicles, I think something like 20% from the early 2020's and in the last few days laid down a fuel consumption policy that outlaws some cars. Seeing Volvo is owned by the Chinese I reckon they knew exactly where there future was and it was not racing cars with IC motors unfortunately for us as they definitely added substantially to the local competition. Get over it and move on might be better than what if's & maybe's being raked over.
