Ratzenberger should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
I don't think it's been mentioned yet so my contribution to this thread is the VDS GT001-R

^^Testing at Zolder. I'd love to see it get more track time this year especially in a series such as GT Open, I'd hate to see us lose another oddball before it really got going.

Can I go back a while for this? I give you the Costin-Nathan GT...

A 1 litre Imp engine, and 400Kgs...
It needed developing, but never got any, as Mike Costin got tied up with some bloke called Duckworth...

Looks good.

This thing count?

Dunno anything about it (specs/class/which engine/series) and can't find much other than a pic or two from the Wiesmann factory and that Engstler apparently drove it at some point.

Looks very much like the Nurburgring and a VLN race. And considering the age of the vehicles around it, it's probably the MF3 Wiesmann, which had a 3.2 liter straight-6, so that would put it in SP6 according to engine size.

Hasseröder windscreen banner suggests that this was taken during the 24 hour race, some time in the late 90s, early 2000s.

This car is based on the Gillet Vertigo I posted earlier, albeit with a lengthed chassis (+15 cm.)

I went to see an exhibition on Porsche today in 'Autoworld' in Brussels, and in the permanent display there was also said Gillet Vertigo. It was small, ugly and had very bad quality of finishing. Very 'man in a shed'-like. And I dearly want one!!!!

How about the Bugatti EB110? Only raced at Le Mans, and is the only ACO GT category car to date that has been allowed to run 4wd.

So it actually ran AWD?

I was always under the impression that it was converted to RWD so if it stayed AWD then that's certainly an exception.

Would like to know how that came about

I had no idea! It raced more too. Seems two different race cars were built on each side of the pond, both utilizing AWD.

A couple of Spanish cars from the early days of the GT Open Championship.

Seat Cupra GT2 http://www.racingsportscars.com/phot...-06-25-006.jpg
I must admit I think it's the best looking Seat I've ever seen.

Sunred SR21 http://www.racingsportscars.com/phot...-04-20-015.jpg
I have no idea what engine the SR21 uses, RSC says it's a 4000cc V10.

I read somewhere (a while ago) that it was supposedly a Judd GV4.

Watching the 1996 Daytona 24 right now. They just showed the Bugatti and mentioned it was AWD. Wayne Taylor in the lead WSC prototype passed it coming out of the busstop and the Bugatti tried to pass him back at the start/finish line.

I think a decent book on all the LMP cars would be a better thing to do first…

But then again perhaps there may be a GT book coming.

None of you clever folk happen to know what happened to the Mercedes SLR McLaren 722 GT, do you? It was in all the car magazines for a while, and I haven't heard of it since. I know it was utilised in a way similar to the Ferrari FXX project...
