My Generally Tracks

Okay here we go! These are some of my tracks for Generally, a small but fun 1mb game that has a track editor and everything

NUMBER 1 - THE BOWL

This was my first fully banked track, I have recently tried to do a Bowl II and Bowl III but they are not as good, so here are some screens and ofcourse, the track for you to enjoy.

PS, i know that the Pic is a BMP

Well, since Rich obviously isn't here to post this...

But anyway, about the track...it really looks like you spent no more than 10 minutes building it. Not the kind of thing that you should be releasing to everyone. I will say, though, that the banking looks nice. Did you use a tutorial?

External landmap editors? Even something as basic as Paint can drastically improve a track.

Some tutorials here

Also, Rich Nagel has various tutorials, sound packs and oddities on his site.

Paint can be used but it sucks for anything advanced (adding boundaries, filling areas with textures), the GIMP is a bit more advanced and is free - www.gimp.org

Your concept of a natural oval, that is somewhat similar to that of a natural amphitheatre, is quite intriguing, but I'm not sure if I enjoy the aesthetics of the graphics of Generally.

Yeah I have to agree - sorry. The term is heptagonal (pardon my boasting). Otherwise it looks okay.

Did this file work for anyone? Both "bowl" tracks will not extract for me.. the 7 sided hex track works though...

Okay, went away for a week, came back. And here we are with my new track, which marks my two years at Tenths (20th July 2005).

So here we go.

AUTODROMO MARACANAU

A stereotypical south american track near Maracanau.

I used TE for the basic Layout, then paint for the unused outer link and the pits and also to thin the lines and add some dithering.

I have also released this on RSC btw

so, cnc's please

Search for dithering emporium on RSC, that's a very good texture pack for grass and stuff.

May be a slight bumpage, but hey, ive got some new stuff which i cant put on RSC cos the forums down!

Anyway, I set out to create fun 100 World size circuits set in different countries, so far ive created Rangstorp from Sweeden which includes a Road Course and a Rallycross circuit, and also I have created Warrenthorpe, a Thruxton/Silverstone style circuit set on an airfield. Enjoy!

You've been putting quite an amount of work into these designs. It's great that they are actually raceable, which is something that cannot be achieved by a mere drawing alone.

But at one point I was going to have to say it that I have to admit these GeneRally tracks always look way too cutesy for my taste.
Still, when looking beyond the surface of cutesyness, I like the way that your GeneRally designs are all distinctly different from one another, in one way or the other.

Yep, Paint and TE is all you need really. That looks quite nice, flows really well and looks easy to drive on, nice cambers. The view angle is a bit too low however.

Il post images of my latest: Cape Cod and Mango Park.
