Hurrah, with the abscence of Suzuka at least there is a challanging track now, oh and Turkey.
What i'm worried about is its only for a year, i read the 3 options, so its the present owners carry on, give bernie a big fist full of cash or give him full control. option #1 please. |

As long as Herman Tilke doesn't get his hands on our Spa, I'm happy.

Good news and I'm sure we'll see Spa back beyond 2007 somehow.

Apparently, all the alterations to the paddock etc have been agreed and signed, there will however be no events until June 07, they are trying to build alink road across from ,possibly Le Combe to.mid Blanchimont. They are about to spend a huge amount of money, but it looks as though some of the smaller events could disapere completely unfortunatly.

They are also altering the circuit layout which is probably one of the reasons for the closure until June.
Can't find a pic of the new layout but the bus-stop is changing again. Currently, after Blanchimont the circuit goes right before a sharp left, very short straight then sharp right onto the original bus-stop. The new layout will go straighter at the right kink after Blanchimont before a sharp right followed by a sharp left after a short straight onto the start finish straight which is a lot longer and straighter on the run upto La source. |

Good to see it official, but a shame the circuit has to change slightly and lose some other races. F1 needs to commit to the circuit - it asks the fans what tehir favourite tracks are, and then axes those tracks anyway.

Back but at what cost to Spa? Am I the only one who read to the end of the ITV report and saw the options for the future. Talk about between a rock and a hard place....

By the look of those pics, Spa is in danger of becoming a world class track! Just how do they get the trucks up the garages by crane, or does the U.N. parachute them in out the back of a C-130?
What is amongst the trees on the outside of the track after Blainchemont, and near the Bus-Stop? Couldn't they hack some of those down to free up a bit more space around the Bus-Stop? |

Well... They are limited on what they can do with Blanchimont because there is a steep slope on the outside of the turn. There is also a steep bank on the outside of the Bus Stop. So there are fairly limited in what they can do, and a good thing to, because Blanchimont is a good corner as it is.

It's a shame they have decided to destroy the Bus Stop chicane.
Still, look at the shiny new garagzzzzzz......... |

Nice to have Spa back on the F1 calender, hopefully now the track has secured its place on the F1 calender for many years to come. Heck, if F1 doesent want a race at Spa theres a lot of Championships that do.

To be honest, the current Bus Stop chicane is no real loss. The pre 2002 profile was good, as it was always vital part of the lap in the way the cars had to hop the kerbs. The 03 to present day profile has always been a bit meh. The proposed new one, is no worse. Has a slight longer run into it, so theres some chance of a bit more slipstreaming before the braking zone, which might be a little a longer itself since the cars might reach a higher top speed before it.
