Euro F3-Zandvoort

Who's going to do well this weekend? Can Green clinch the championship needing to score 7 points more than Rosberg?

Green has definately a good chance, but than must better perfon than he did at the masters. But his teammates finished 1-2 their so I have no doubt Green will cliche the championship next sunday, his car is good enough. And if he don't, he will do it at Brno.

2 huge crashes in the race today

Rosberg ended up under the tyre barriers, his car broken in two parts. Daniel La Rosa went straight at the same place and was taken to hospital after officials and doctors worked at the scene for about 10 minutes.

No statement about the condition of the drivers have been made yet. But a tragic end to the first race.

Update from Autosport:
Quote:
The Dallara-Opel driver was challenging Franck Perera for sixth when his left front suspension appeared to collapse under braking for the first turn. Rosberg crashed into the barriers at high speed, but although he was able to climb from the car, he appeared to be winded in the impact.
The race ended almost as soon as it was restarted. Daniel La Rosa, who had taken over from Rosberg in seventh, had a similarly huge shunt under braking for the first turn. Unlike Rosberg, who hit the barrier side-on, La Rosa went in front first with sickening effect. With just two minutes of the race remaining, the red flag was thrown as the German was extracted from the car.
Amazingly, La Rosa appears to have escaped the accident without injury.

Hardly tragic - he's unhurt!

What happened to Jamie Green - he didn't score any points?

I saw some pictures, both guys are very lucky. Funny fact actually, La Rosa is classified 7th and has scored 2 points, altough he crashed out! But the best news is, that he's fine!

So that would be weaving on the formation lap then, just like all the F1 drivers do! Forgive me for being cynical but it sounds like just another ploy to knock back the Brits - remember Lewis Hamilton at Pau.

He bumped another car while weaving on the warm-up lap, which is why he wasn't allowed to race.

Okay, I guess I will have to withdraw my previous comment if contact was made. And there I was, trying to see it from Green's point of view for once...

Jamie Green (ASM Formule 3): “I tried to get a feel for the course during qualifying. After I got new tyres I first of all wanted to heat them up. That’s when I probably got in the way of Daniel la Rosa. I was also a bit too fast after the chequered flag. I think it’s a tough punishment to be barred for one race because of that. But I must accept it.”
Sounds like he 'misbehaved' in Qualifying today and was banned for the race.

I take offence to that, doubt you've ever been to a proper kart race.

Well done Lewis. Glad everyone is ok after the crashes, didn't sound too good.

Can Green still win the championship tomorrow?

It will be difficult, I need to have a lead of 45 points or more on the nr 2 in the standings. He now has a lead 38 points. He needs to win the sunday race of finish 2nd, and hope that guys like Salignon, Premat, Rosberg and Lapierre don't score that high. It will be difficult, but it's not impossible.
