Not much comment yet from orange colleagues concerning the fast
approaching Gold Cup Meeting...surely I am not alone in experiencing
a sense of growing excitement at the prospect.
For me it is simply the best meeting of the year.
This year looking forward to the 2 seat Minardi F1 howling around
Shell Hairpin...some lucky blighter is going to win a passenger ride in it.
Pity marshals are effectively barred from the competition, apparently
to enter you have to buy a ticket for the meeting .
Mind you if I won the comp I wouldn't fit in the darn thing anyway.!!!

Dont forget the Group B rally boys on the rally Track, we have 20 seriously tasty motors turning up, all of which have way too much power for the special low-grip tarmac of the rally shcool, I think some of J Ps precious grass is going to take a serious beating! We will be running through the lunch break on the monday so come over and say hello

And it will be the first time my missus will be on the bank - shes done several speed events at Loton & Harewood, but hasnt done a circuit yet.

That reminds me - need to get a picture for my grading card the I/O for the CSCC meeting on Old Hall gave me.

I was instructed by a higher authority that I was not allowed to Marshal this event, as I was Marshalling last weekend.
Understanding that tickets were in short supply, I returned them promptly to the Chief Marshal.
Higher Authority announces that she has joined a Gym and will be going twice weekly - which when added to Bingo nights = 4 nights out.
Lower Authority lodged a protest, and Higher Authority relented (Knowing that tickets had been returned I suspect!)

Lower Authority will now spend weekend creosoting the fence!

The Gold Cup is what got me in to marshalling, it's simply an awesome event with cars you'll rarely see on track. The Maserati 250F is such a beast of a machine and thanks to Jan Gower i got to see it very close a few years ago and chatted to the owner. Also met the wonderful Sir Jack Brabham and Roy Salvadori.

It will be quiet an experience seeing a "current" F1 car at Oulton, but it'd be even better if they could persuade the TGP to race too. That, and having a ride in a Lambo would simply make my weekend. There's going to be some cracking machinery on display and the added rally event be interesting too.

The only question i have is - will the Minardi F1 be louder than the F5000's?

The lack of comment is possibly because some things go without saying!

I can't argue with that.......although VSCC comes a very close second!

After describing the Gold Cup meeting as 'just a lot of old cars driving around' you deserve that!

Oh b****r!

Oh you lucky people! New job, strange shifts = no attendance at Gold Cup, and possibly few attendances at other meetings either. Now you all stay safe out there, and look forward to seeing you all when the gods allow.

Aah! Mr rumblefish I did wonder where you'd got to and I noticed that Andy C has substituted a giant panda in your place; he claims that it belongs to his granddaughter.

Seems I am not alone... apparently tickets were posted earlier this week but nothing in today's post.

It's a long shot, but *if* the above people get sorted, and someone has a spare or two, it would be very much appreciated.

Failing that, as there is no public access till Sunday, how can I buy a ticket to enable me to get in and marshal today?

(paying to marshal, that's a new level of commitment lol )

Ian

If you put your name down to marshal this meeting and not received tickets then when you get to the ticket booth, ask the person there to get in touch with the chief marshal in race control (Margaret or Alistair) who will then confirm that your name is on the list they should then let you in.

Entry for non-camping on-course marshals is through the East Gate, from 7AM on Saturday & Monday (no time given for Sunday, but probably 9AM-ish).

Ian, I can't see your name on the list (unless your first name begins with C); Chezza, you're on the list.

Judging from the postmark on the envelope, tickets were sent direct from the HSCC rather than the Chief Marshal.
