This was telling:

"The reason for the decision to upheld the penalty, according to the Stewards in Austria, is that the driver of Car 11 (Perez) contended that the new element(s) evidenced that in defending his position he was exercising his right, under Article 20.4 of the 2014 Formula One Sporting Regulations, to use the whole track."

Apparently Massa was crashed into ...Perez's own admission. Should've made it 10 places!

321Go should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
The reasoning for the decision from the stewards report below:

"The driver of Car 11 contended that the new element(s) evidenced that in defending his position he was exercising his right, under Article 20.4 of the 2014 Formula One Sporting Regulations, to use the whole track. However it was clear to the Stewards that the defence of his position occurred in
the braking area. Article 20.4 specifically states that any right to defend by using the whole track must occur prior to any braking area. Accordingly the driver of Car 11 was not entitled to defend his position in the manner he did."

So yes, Perez is at fault, and yes, we have seen 10 place grid penalties for similar incidents. Given the circumstances, Perez may have got away lightly. Principle Whiting had both students in his office and warned Perez if he continues to behave in this manner, he will receive detention for a week.

After looking at a video of the crash several times, I think at Massa's speed, he would have ended up in the grass and armco regardless.

Get over it, it has been ruled , twice, to be Perez's fault.

In fairness they do tend to travel further and faster with no wheels on them!
Testimony to how well they stop!
