MikeH should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
I'm a little surprised at some of the negativity about this idea... I love the sound of it. Even if there were indeed only a handful of GT1s with a bunch of GT2 Porkers and Venturis (I loved the Venturis in the mid-90s so I've got no issue with that) it's something at least for those of us who were fans at that time.

Will be watching the project to see if it looks like a trip to Silverstone in May would be worthwhile.

I'm definetly making the trip to see this happen. Even it was just a few high profile cars (Couple of Mclaren's, F40's and 911 GT1's I'll be happy!).
Does anyone have an idea as to whcih weekend in May it is?

Im assuming that the Revival series will be a support series to the FIA GT. Im pretty sure thats the case, think I read it somewhere.

Here we are, quote from fiagt.com

"...GT 90’s Revival Series. This two-event series, running at Silverstone and Nogaro with the FIA GT Championship, will be open to all cars which competed in GT events in the 1990’s, including the glorious GT1 cars of that era".

Interesting pont. I reckon if it was GT1 Cars like Toyota GT1, Merc CLK-GTR then they would be the quickest. In a straight line I'm sure the group C would be the fastest.

Remember, Group C that did not care if the car finished the race, could be tuned to be one lap wonders, or lightning fast rabbits, designed to sucker others into trying to keep up.

Thinking back 4 or 5 years, it took a while for the Group C historic races to become established- as I remember, apart from the races at the big Silverstone historic meet in 2001 (the one where they awarded a trophy in Bob Wollek's memory) most of the early girds were fairly weak and propped up with Group 6 Chevrons and the like

I don't think there's much chance of Mercs or Toyotas, but a couple of McLarens, F40s 911GT1s and a Lister or two, with a reasonable turnout of 911GT2s, Venturis, Marcos, Lotus, early Vipers and the like should be worth a look- One or two of the more unusual cars that appeared in BPRO and early FIA GT races should still be around somewhere as well, and it wolud be good to see a couple of those- remember the Callaway Corvettes, and the original GT2 Morgan?

I appears that at least one TVR Tuscan will be entered.

Yes, one of the open topped V8 cars. There's mention of it on the Pistonheads forum.

I am entering a Tuscan Challenge car in GT3.

I am told the organisers already have interest from an F355 Challenge, 2 to 3 Venturi 400, two Venturi 600LM, 2 McLaren GTR, 2 Porsche 911 GT1, one F40GTE... and it is very early days yet...

Wow, sounds very promising indeed. I was strongly considering skipping Silverstone this year, but this is beginning to sound a bit too good to miss............

How are they defining 'GT3'?- given that the Tuscan didn't race in either BPR or FIA races, then presumably the GT3 class would allow in some of the cars that only ever ran in national series, without ever being homlogated for FIA GT- I'm thinking of the Harriers, Darrians and the like in British GT, for example?

I'm sure I've seen a photo somewhere of a Tuscan running in French GT or similar around 1999/2000-ish?

From the GT90 website: GT3 : cars from single make series such as
- Porsche Cup, Venturi Trophy, Ferrari Challenge, Lamborghini Supersport...

All cars entered must adhere to the configuration and technical regulations of their original championship.

The series website has some contradictory information. It says that the 2nd race will tak place at Nogaro as stated by Staphane Ratel in the DSC interview but the site also states that the second race will take place at Hockenheim with the ADAC GT Masters. What to believe?

Tuscan 6 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
http://www.gt90s-revival.com

I'd go with Hockenheim since it appears several times in different places: in the series presentation and events section for starters, with contact details for the circuit and race timetable:

Friday, October 12th
10.10 – 10.40 Free Practice 1 30’
15.10 – 15.40 Free Practice 2 30’

Saturday, October 13th
08.25 – 09.00 Qualifying 15/5/15
13.35 - 14.20 Race 1 45’

Sunday, October 14th
10.55 - 11.40 Race 2 45’

On the home page it says Nogaro...but where all the detail appears it says Hockenheim

Makes sense- looking at that list though, there are a few oddities in the way cars have been divided between GT1 and GT2- Marcos LM500 & LM600 in GT1? I thought they were always GT2 cars, Similarly, the Ascari FGT listed as a GT2?- again, I thought that was classed as a GT1 in British GT...
