Wasnt GT1 in British GT not the same as FIAGT, as British GT had a GT category too, it all got a bit confusing from memory between national and international categories.

Still, am really looking forward to this series and race at silverstone, i would have been going anyway so this is just a big big bonus. I remember seeing the historic gp C at silverstone as previously mentioned in 2001 and that was great, the biggest shame is that some of the big guns will never turn out, which would really bring back the years, can you imagine a Sauber Mercedes C9 rumbling around silverstone again in historic gp C, or a CLR in GT Rivival.
Thats the bonus of FOS, to see cars that otherwise dont move.

What about the Sintura S9, just sold recently i believe, i remember watching that thing howl around Croft back in 1999 i think, it sounded amazing and looked very fast, even compared to a 911 GT1, the blue coral car, unfortunitly it didnt finish the race but lead before that

Things can get a bit confusing here. BGT did actually have the old GT1 cars for a season longer than FIA GT or Le Mans did. Then in 2000 GT1 was finally dropped, and the classes were named "GT" and "GTO" (as opposed to "GT" and "N-GT" in the FIA series). Then in 2003 "GT" was dropped, the "GT Cup" entry level class introduced, and for some of us the championship has just not been the same since...

However, the GT3-lead series this year is making BGT a mouthwatering prospect (for me at least) for the first time in a few years, I genuinely think we're in for a season to remember this time.

I must admit my first thoughts on this years BGT season were negative, i thought GT2 spec cars, in power/mods etc were more exciting than all the cars being GT3 spec, but as time has past and rumours have started to appear about this season i am getting excited about it and cant wait to see the first race.

Anyone heard any more about the revival series? I need to decide fairly soon whether to make the (huge) journey down for the FIA GT meeting and it pretty much hinges on what the status of this is - the current series looks pretty good and the Ford GTs and Mustangs in the GT3 Championship are almost enough to make me come down but if there's a half decent GT1/2 field in the Revival Series then I'm 100% there...

Larbre Competition ran a David Price Racing Panoz GT1 ('98 LM) car in 2004 (Sebring+LM+LMES) hope they will return with that and their own Porsche 911 GT1 car

Looks like Friday is the day to go at Silverstone if you want to see this series. Is it open to the public? I can't tell from the Silverstone website!

I emailed the circuit with that very question. they said that Friday entry would be permitted to anyone with a weekend ticket. So no specific Friday ticket. £20 for 3 day ticket, not bad at all.

Err, nonsense

Friday 4 May is free practice and qually. There is a 45 minute race on the sat and the sunday.

As far as entries are concerned, I spoke with SRO today and they currently have 20 on the grid and hope to hit their target of 25

Cars include: McLarenF1GTR x 3, Porsche 911 GT1, Lotus Exige GT1 x 2, Marcos LM600, Venturi Challenge, Ferrari 355 Challenge, Prosport 3000, Tuscan Challenge, Marcos and some others that I have forgotten. For a first race of a series I think it looks pretty promising.

When I started racing I can't say I ever thought I'd be sharing a track with McLaren F1s!

I'm assuming from your username you'll be in the Tuscan Challenge? 20 cars is impressive - that's looking pretty promising indeed.... looks like I may be doing this after all...

20 cars is good, but it is too bad that there are only 6 GT1 cars, and only 2 GT2s. However, on balance perhaps that is rather good. Wonder what the specs of the Mclarens and the Porsche are - 96 or 97?

Well one is the EMKA McLaren, so that'll be '97/'98. Awesome news to see that LM600 listed there! Any idea which one it might be?

why the hell wouldnt you?
i'm payin 40 quid minimum this year, and frankly id pay more and travel from whereever for the fiagt field alone!id give stephane ratel for his efforts, except the clashing LMS test and valenciea race. which is odd.

Well thats true: 2 x 30 min free practice and 2 x 15 min qually on Friday. And I suspect entry to the circuit will be free on that day

Guys - the list of cars is not definitive - it was just what I could remember from a much longer conversation about tyres

Oh that would be special!

Would have been nice to hear of some Esprit news but I guess that was always going to be unlikely.

well if geoff lister's 911 ran at walter hayes, he'd be pretty stupid to turn this opportunity down.
they must be about, these cars, but how many have been tweeked for other series? and how many just got stored by collectors and are worth too much, or too difficult to run? 991 GT1 98, CLK, R390, Toyota etc.
