DanJR1 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
S2000 lites?

Just had an idea for a sub catagory. cars like the toyota MR2, elise, audi TT etc. could run in a lighter, less powerful (and only 2 wheel drive) class against the bigger cars to encourage more manufacteurs to compete. Might be a lot more exciting to watch than the normal looking cars that run nowdays. Might be reminisant of the old group B days!. I just think modern day rallying needs spicing up a little.

surely thats super1600?

the idea of s2000 is that it allows manufacturers that dont produce a 4wd production car (ala subaru + mitsi) to enter a 4wd 2litre NA rally car in a top level formula, prior to s2000 regs manufacturers were left with two options:
Group N, no good if you dont have a production 4wd turbo road car (not many manufacturers) or WRC which is obviously very expensive.

so we wouldnt really need a s2000 lite class as s2000 allows a manufacturer to add 4wd and various other tweaks to a car and submit it for homoligation.

Has nobody noticed that the most manufactures don't even have 2.0 atmo's anymore? PSA? 1.6! VAG? 1.8 or 2.0 Turbo! Opel? 2.0 Turbo! A GTI these days has a turbo. Only Renault and Honda have powerfull atmo units...

because the turbo makes it easier to meet emissions regs as well as i believe being slightly more fuel efficient than a n.a engine of similar output.

super2000 regs allow the manufacturer to use an engine from another vehicle for example a focus based s2000 car could use a duratec lump from a mondeo if a 2litre engine wasnt available in the focus model range
