mel tyres should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
GB 1

The best British/Irish driver is currently carrying the GB1 Plate and IS Competing in the Kumho Tyres British Rallycross Championships.

WTF??? When did Bardy ever run a down on power engine? Lack of practice that's all. GT was the best of the Irish..fact.

You are correct in thinking it had a cracked manifold. The reason for this was the mapping for the second engine is different too the first and caused the manifold to explode under different pressures (ie. dettination timming).

Yes, twas fact:

11 20 George Tracey Ireland 03:20:30 9 03:19:61 12 03:20:26 10 19
12 15 Jos Kuypers Italy 03:23:22 12 03:18:33 8 03:24:47 14 20
13 21 Christopher Evans Ireland DNS 90 03:19:70 13 03:21:28 12 25

George was faster of the two and consistantly faster, not saying chris didnt have a problem; just saying in black and white its right there. Its also true to say that anytime both have been in europe the times have been simular

I watched him in France 2005 and several times in Holland and Belgium and you can really see the progress, both driver but especially the Astra. The Astra was quick in the hands of Schanche but allways suffered from something, just like he had with the RS200 and later with the Escort "RS2000". Than after France I've red some good things, winning the championship and good results (1st and 2nd) in the GP, so I was really hoping to see the Astra in full chat time, but I understand they had to replace the engine with an older one, which was (slightly) down on power... Damn! Otherwise: good to see those other problems don't occur that often anymore!

as far as i am aware this will be the astra's last season in ERC rallycross. Christopher mentioned about having to build a new car in holland last year as this would be the astras last season in homologation. is this correct??

Yep, by December 31 2009 the homologation of the Astra G type is finished, but according to the "plus 4 years rule" I guess it can be used for int. RX till December 31 2013.
