I think that grid is better than last years. Races 2017 were 85% Safety Car.

Well it was just impossible to have again 40 cars on the grid. Spectacular number, but the races were chaos and people who invest money don't want to take the risk to finish every race in the low midfield blind spots (p 25-35)

The championship will be much more balanced but some names are missing: Steve Kirsch, Moritz Oestreich, Dino Calcum, Pascal Eberle...maybe they have a different plan for this season

No it's just a national touring car series. If this is club racing than for example BTCC and TCR Europe is also club racing.

Ive got a real life hack figured for myself: Whenever there is a TCR Germany race going on I get ready to clean my appartment. I watch all the race, and whenever there is another safetycar phase i start cleaning fueled by my rage over the poor maneuvers and over protective race stewards until the safety car comes in.
My place is neat and tidy after only one round.

Right now the series is a joke. They should have a 5 spot grid penalty for everyone that causes a full course yellow/ red flag/ etc.

It's a long time ago I have watched a full GT Masters race but I assume there's the same problem.

Like you say overprotective race stewards is one of the reasons.
