kmchow should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Wanna buy a real DTM C Class?

Cool. So a privateer could buy and race it in the DTM? Or would it be cheaper to negotiate for one directly with MB?

Expect to see it in the hands of some well-heeled privateer in Britcar or similar afore long...

or glued to some rich Japanese collector's lounge well...

(just what kind of plaster do THEIR builders use, incidentally... my plaster seems to have trouble supporting its own weight for more than 12 months...)

You could probably enter it in Britcar, Dutch Supercar or VLN.

Not in VLN. They apparently don't accept new entries for E1-XP:

In 2008, only the three cars mentioned below are
admitted for the BF Goodrich Langstreckenmeisterschaft
Nürburgring and the ADAC 24 hour race Nürburgring:
DTM: chassis number RCO 023-02
DTM: chassis number RCO 032-03
DTM: chassis number RCO 039-03
V8STAR: chassis number V8S-4
V8STAR: chassis number V8S-6
(http://www.vln.de/bin/2008-24h-Reglement.pdf)

Although it's a bit puzzling to see 3 cars with 5 chassis numbers...

Ex-DTM chassis have also been run in the Czech championship and one TT was floating around in Brazil for a bit, but I am not sure it ran outside of the Mil Milhas and the current Brazilian sportscar championship is now being run to GT3 rules iirc.

You can also use it in Hillclimbs. Herbert Brenner races a DTM Opel Astra Coupé in the German hillclimb series.

VLN might also be vetoed by Mercedes-Benz. They don't want their DTM cars to be raced in Germany by anobody other than themselves. That's why the Schall Team, whose team principal owns a Mercedes dealership, races with the DTM-Opel.

Opel did the same with the DTM Vectras - privateer teams wanted to run them (even some interested in running them in the DTM itself) but Opel wouldn't sell them.

An ex DTM Mercedes 190 Evo has been running in the BARC DMN saloon championship on occasion so ex-DTM cars can crop up all over the place Ric Wood ran and Astra in Britcar and Dutch Supercar (it got stolen), I believe he bought another though.

In 2007 Finnish GT - series there were an Audi A4 DTM, driven by Markku Hietamäki.
This very car was driven by Frank Biela in 2004 - 2005 and Vanina Ickx in 2006 DTM series.

I think it's not a problem to race a DTM-Merc outside Germany, after all there are a few in the Czech Endurance series, and maybe also in Brasil, but a series that races in Germany is a no-no.

Another Brazilian DTM car I had forgot about. That Merc was owned by Pedro Diniz's uncle Alcides(?), who sadly passed away. Oakfields (run by sportscar driver Gregor Fisken) has been liquidating his impressive car collection, which also included a Lister Storm and an Aston Martin DBR9.

It is even a bit tweaked, or the website is incorrect. It says the engine is a 5l v8. DTM-engines are about 4.5 I think.
