Burtonwood race circuit

anyone know anything about the Burtonwood race circuit on the US airbase, near Warrington.
The 1st event was January 16th 1954 & organised by the Burtonwood Autosport Club - was it a circuit race or sprint

Its not mentioned in "Motor Racing Circuits in England" (nor "British Motorcycle Racing Circuits"), so its an omition in the books or (more likely?) not been a race circuit...

It was used by the Chester Motor Club in the 70s as a Sprint Circuit & someone did some Karting there according to the internet.

I have a report of the event that took place in January 1954 taken from the AMOC February 1954 newsheet supplied by the AMHT archives.
' Burtonwood, January 16th 1954
By the kindness and courtesy of the Burtonwood Autosport Club, half a dozen Members (AMOC) were priveleged to 'try out' a small sinuous circuit on this U.S. Air Base. So many local types were present, with all sorts of machinery, that testing took place in batches, roughly grouped on engine capacity.
The surface was absolutely perfect - which is more tahn can be said for the weather.
In the middle of the afternoon, a violent rain & hailstorm developed to make driving most uncomfortable.
McMillans DB11 (DB2 that is - sometimes written as the factory listed it in house) ran very well to shew (their spelling mistake) a clean pair of heels to an XK120, a Triumph TR2 and an Austin-Healey. Bracegirdle's Ulster also motored to some purpose and Fowler's Le Mans was its usual self - potent and steady. Dodger's Le Mans was also its usual self - some perfectly unexplainable troubles and one equally unexplainably slick run. It was a most enjoyable afternoon, for which we thank the U.S. boys, and it is hoped that the rumoured Race Meeting on a full circuit will become possible'

so was this a sprint or an unofficial race or ?

I dont think that is a mistake, shew was the 'old english' way of spelling show and IIRC a lot of the old laws etc. would be spelt that way. Also old Bibles and suchlike.
Now isn't that very useful to know
