Romano Appeal Decision Announced

CAMS STATEMENT 22 May 2002 For Immediate Release CAMS STATEMENT V8 Supercar National Court of Appeal dismisses Romano Appeal The V8 Supercar National Court of Appeal last night dismissed the appeal made by Mr Paul Romano of Romano Racing against the Stewards' findings into an incident during round two of the V8 Supercar Championship at Phillip Island. The Court upheld the Stewards' findings on all breaches. However, the penalty on one of the three breaches was amended, Conduct Prejudicial, and the fine was reduced from $10,000 to $5,000. The total final penalties imposed on Romano Racing were $15,000 and a loss of 150 Championship points. The appeal by Mr Paul Romano of Romano Racing commenced on 2 May 2002. The appeal was against the Stewards' findings made at the inquiry held at Eastern Creek on 27 April 2002 into an incident that occurred at Phillip Island on the 14 April 2002 where car #24 (Romano) and car #7 (Forbes) were involved in an altercation at turn four. |
