The best Michael Schumacher title season.
Q. Out of Michael Schumacher's title winning seasons which was his best?
This is a bit of an off-season thread, but what makes a good title. He's won seven so far, which one did he driver the best for, which do you think gives him most satisfaction, which gives you most satisfaction (or made you sigh as the man just destroyed everyone). The reasons behind the decision are yours, the priorities are yours, but do share. NB This poll is limited to pre-2005 Vote in the best non-title poll here. 2000 was the best for me. The most pressure and he had to beat a man faster than him. It was a title I quite enjoyed as well. Great fight that culminated in that awesome Suzuka showdown.
For me it was the only year his car was equal with the nearest competitior. |

Agree 2000. I think poor Mclaren reliabilty was the ultiimate decider in that championship. Schumacher was a worthy champion though.

1995.
Drove the car often over its limit. Crashed sometimes - but usually got results. |

2000, so significant for ferrari and ms, plus he beat hakkinen in that epic suzuka race, overcome a mid season slump and a lot of media criticism.
95 was also a brilliant season, but to me beating hill didn't have the same lustre as beating hakkinen. |

2000... The thing that puts it above 1995 is that I feel the MP4/16 was a better car than the FW17 to compete against. The F1-2000 wasn't perfect, and it was really a championship he earned.

2004.
He had the best car of course, but I still think for most of the season he drove exceptionally. His victory at Monza was quite something, even though he blew it all by himself on the first lap. And who else could have won with 4 stops as he did at Magny-Cours? There's just nobody else fast enough. |

BTW Rubens won Monza 2004 ...and with some good effort too. But MS did just a bit better and could have won it if he had wanted to. But MS wouldn't steal candy from a child either, would he. |

The best, 2004. Total domination. But my favorite is 2000, of course!

Being practically senile, I can barely remember last week let alone 5 years ago. So I voted 2004.
Honestly, I say 2004 because after a fairly stiff challenge from the 'youngsters' in 2003 he (and the Ferrari team) came back better than ever, Michael drove better in 2004 than at any time in his career. Summed up in one word: imperious. 2000 was a great year, and a great battle, it certainly runs 2004 close, and I would imagine Michael himself rates it highly. But 2004 is tops for me. |

2000- the Ferrari factor after a few years of build-up made it all the more worthwhile.

2000- the first Ferrari championship for 21 years.... all the emotion involved etc.
2003-what a challenge by the youngsters.... but in the end Ferrari and MS stood tall... |

Well, Michael obviously deserved to win it or I wouldn't remember it at all lol. I do remember now him just cruising up behind rubens and then sitting there until the end of the race, but no doubt he could have won it, if he wanted to. |

2003 for me, Rubens couldn't get near him so there was no chance of any team order accusations.

2000 for me also. After a massive drought, Ferrari had the trophy.
2004 was his finest drive against my expectations. Every year I expect him to slip a little, and every year he gets better. This year though ...... |

The last part of the title decider and specially the last pitstop still make me think of the latin quote "They can because they think they can". that race finally opened the floodgates. |

Yeah 2000 was great, after all of the build up he finally did it. It was quite emotional, even for a non Ferrari fan. Then it got dragged on for a bit too long...

I think 2004. He may have had the best car, but if u use Rubens as a yardstick, he was so much better. He droe simply magnificently all year, albeit some exceptions. 2000 he didn't have the best car, but this year he was too good in too many ways.
