Well, GerryMo you can enjoy some pictures of a Cortina racing. The driver is a popular poster on this forum, and is comparatively slow, but a nice chap without a stain on his glass. Who can it be. No further clues will be provided. A Bauble Gold Star, Second Class will be awarded to the first correct responder.

The Relative Tortoise nickname comes from going off first in the 2003 VSCC Edwardian Handicap with my '17 Studebaker to then be chased down by the Walker Panhard, Majzub Sunbeam Indy, Pittaway Monarch, Lees Viper, TT Sunbeam, Metallurgique Maybach etc etc
The Sunbeam Indy swept around the outside of me at Devil's Elbow to win but I beat the Panhard to second
Only one hare beat the tortoise

Nice pic, great attitude! As you can easily guess if you tell me Studebaker this kind of shape won't be my first thought! Are you fine tuning the ignition timing with your left hand or is it the throttle? I've been told by specialists racing this kind of cars that the wooden rims are a hassle to maintain. Do you confirm the "bath" thing?

Racing on beaded edged tyres and wooden wheels is fine - all the wheels were rebuilt after I got the car (that was 34 years ago ) and I have not had to soak them at all.
I am simply working on the basis that some weight transfer will make a difference to the way it handles

It looks as if the driver used to race sidecars.

Absolutely! I had the opportunity to visit the best Ford collection in Europ, Den Hartogh now closed, and was amazed by the number and quality of period accessories dedicated to the T Model. Ramps of double bronze carbs, special 16 valves heads, so called systems to have "independent" front wheels (sometimes independent of the driver's will!) drums all round and double CWP to obtain a four speed gearbox were common.
And when you're a newbie, some collectors love to say with a weird glimpse: "Please make yourself at home, start it with the crank its an unforgettable experience". I almost lost a shoulder doing this.
Hazing, yes?

Rebuilding and maintaining this kind of stuff seems not to be a piece of cake, I remember Edd China knowing few success with his PP and Brighton attempts.

Not really a puzzle, but can anyone identify/decipher these signatures?
They are from a Le Mans Legends dinner.
I have Derek Bell, Tom Christienson, and Norman Dewis, and David Piper but cannot make head or tail of the rest, although I suspect Yannick Dalmas , may be there. Gerard?

Yes, Bob, I'm with you looks like Dalmas, four time winner. And its Christensen. I've always admired Derek Bell, looks like a nice person. I was sitting on the guard rail with a bloke when he sent his Mirage out of the track, in the new Maison Blanche portion. '79 may be?
