Ooh, I dont know, I could see a two week break from work starting on a Wednesday and finishing on a Wednesday might fit both races quite nicely.

But other people's options may vary...

Funny how the mention of the Grand Prize completely polarises marshals into Love and Hate camps. I can't think of any other single motor racing event that does this.

Of course, on a wider scale there's the London Olympics, World Darts Championships, Soccer in general ...

I don't know. Both "Goodwoods" and maybe a few of the BTCC races spring to mind as 'Marmite' events

I filled my form in and sent it off to Chris. If I get selected I'll be able to decide which of the two camps I get to sit in next year, as it would be my first

And if I don't get selected, then as Justin points out there's the ELMS meeting the weekend after, which is rather nearer to where I Iive. Can't go wrong!

PS I love Marmite. But not with Pork Pies.

As if to prove you wrong, I fall squarely into the "apathy" camp!

I'd agree that BTCC brings out the opinions, but do the Goodwoods polarise people? Having done both for the last two years, I'm planning to do neither this year, but that's due to lack of specific interest, distance, and having to limit the number of days I take off work this year (both really requiring 2 each).

I've never heard anybody say "I'm never doing it again," and I imagine I'll be back to both at some point in the future.

I've split out the sportscar bits - some of the earlier bits of the two threads might refer to each other, but I'm sure we can all live with that.

Foe me, the Marmite test is the presence of the words "FIA Championship".

Blimey, well spotted - I'd forgotten about that already, and I only asked Roy about it last week - looks like I have 2 things to look forwards to in the post this week* (although the other one is not marshalling related)

* - well, at least finding out one way or another that is, don't want to tempt fate or anything
