Well, I cannot disappoint my reader!

However, to clarify, the edible panties were supposed to be for the lady's partner (male, female or anything between) in case they suddenly felt hunger pangs whilst otherwise engaged! Or maybe they could be described as the hor d’oeuvres!

As for the Chukka Panties, they had a fairly short life as far as I can remember. Again however, they still exist for medical purposes and, in fact, in the UK all hospitals usually require patients to wear paper based underwear when undergoing medical procedures and operations requiring the patient to wear hospital gowns.

The son of one of my Alfa mates is responsible for the production of the Demon Tweeks catalogue......apparently he's pretty much unobtainable for most of the Autumn while he's compiling it......not surprising giving the hearty thud it always makes when arriving through my letterbox

As Wrexham is within an hour or so's driving distance of us we normally visit for any requirements, but fairly often not everything is in stock, but we do generally find that subsequent supply through the post is usually pretty prompt

Probably Brexit related then.

Mind you, were they genuine? Could have been people nicking traffic lights having moved on from lead roofing and mains power cables.

I assume this was scheduled work timed especially to clash with start of day travel?

Can't have been a light failure - unless the failure was a few weeks ago.

There's a fairly new trick here to use light-controlled pedestrian crossings in villages as a form of traffic calming. If they detect you are over the limit the lights go red. Irritating, but marginally better than having to clamber over sleeping policemen. Clearly not designed with pedestrians in mind either, as they can be red from one direction and green the other.

Unfortunately my work experience placement has been cancelled for unfortunate reasons.I must confess I'm a little stuck on where to find some.I'm hoping I can help at some historic (or any for that matter? meetings this year which my mum suggested and I thought this was the best place (limited knowledge) for it to be shared/told.The date can be anywhere from now to June/July when my course finishes.

Will (for anyone who doesn't know).

Going back to Gerard’s buying experience- one thing I learned years ago is that sellers such as DT try to ensure that any ‘lifed’ products like harnesses, seats etc, are sold out before the end of any particular year, then get new stock ASAP in the next year to sell in that ‘season’. That way the customer always gets maximum use. So quite possible they won’t have stock in early Jan....

I bought an extinguisher that was already a year into its life, and that taught me to always check before buying! Best not to buy such items from a website, but over the phone instead......

There is a street in Norwich with several sets of lights that are timed so that if you are travelling 25 mph they will all turn green as you approach. Speed and the next set will be red, and so on..... Think it’s common practice in London and must be elsewhere as well, but haven’t come across the French idea yet! Surely only a matter of time.

The Westward run out of Slough (A4 I think - it's been a while since I last went through there) was set up like that years ago - though a 30 limit iirc.

The only problem was when you ended up behind someone from Norwich who thought the correct speed was 25!

Yes, in London, at least 50 years ago, we did have stretches of roads that had what I knew as phased (traffic) lights, which if you kept to the speed limit meant that you could travel the whole stretch without stopping.

The one that I remember in particular was the one way street which became the start of the A41. It commenced at the side of the Dorchester Hotel (Park Lane, Hyde Park), crossed over Oxford Street and continued north west finishing just before the road beared left with Regents Park on the right.

Mike B, you're living inside my head! Yes, first trouble I got was about a Schroth harness, I wanted a grey one at a fair price if possible. I always got my money back, no worry about that. There are numerous things we do know impossible to get from any "oversea supplier", starting with liquids like octane stabilizer, oil and so on. Of course, FE are in the list. Imagine a child with a huge Christmas goodies catalogue being unable to get one!

John, the first country I saw this kind of thing is Spain and it works fine there together with the automatic control of the toll gates.

It will be probably useless for people here, but you must know that our roads have now a limited speed of 80 kph, some parts being still 90 kph as were before… I gave up with this, and sticks to 80…*Modern world hein?

I had a feeling some higher speed might work but perhaps only if the vehicle could hit that speed very quickly. I never had anything fast enough.

Probably just as well for as I recall the local driving standards could often seem dangerous at 30. Or less.

(Something is niggling at the back of my mind that it was originally a 40 mph light timing but the speed limit was 50. There was something strange about the initial deployment but the detail of what it actually was escapes me.)
