2CV 24 hour event
A radio station has apparently agreed to help promote/broadcast the event. Marshals will therefore be able to hear news bulletins provided they have an FM radio. The usual commentators will be broadcasting during daylight hours, but no transmissions are allowed during night time after an agreement with local residents.

Oh dear, it now appears that it will only be transmitted on satellite. For more details try www.2cvracing.co.uk. They are the information suppliers.

Got my regs yesterday, not sure if I understand the rosta correctly, but it appears that although I am Observing for Team 'A' at Riches Corner, I am also making guest appearances at Revett, Bomb-Hole, and Russell?
Like the idea of Caterham races before the main event. Just as close, but chalk 'n' cheese in terms of speed |

Sign on is at 7pm, briefing in the sign-on Marquee at 8.30pm to be on post by 9pm.
Neil - your group is "A/2" - basically your first shift is at Riches and then you follow the table as every group gets shifted round so you get to marshal at every post. |

There are now some changes to the allocations to avoid partners being on different shifts and to support the cancellations/additions. There is still time to volunteer for this fun event and get your "Free pint of Buffy's, Glenfiddich miniature, (not on post of course) raffle ticket for various goodies, and meal vouchers.

The next change will be the timetable coz the one I got says we start Saturday racing at 11.55, have 2 X 40 minute caterham races followed by lunch at 12.15. Some trick?
At that rate the 24 hour 2CV race will finish last Thursday. |

Just heard from someone I know who works at Snett, the teams are now all set up and there is lots of media going! The all girl rookie team have a nice bright pink car. Yuck. The media could be going to try to reveal the Stig! Can't be Perry as he is racing an Audi in a smaller 24 hr event in 2cv homeland!

I regret to inform you that the all girl rookie team are Irish They call themselves "The Pink Ladies"......
Whilst their taste may be dubious, in their favour I should point out that they're racing to raise money for the Temple Street Childrens Hospital and the Simon Community (Simon Community is an organisation to help the homeless). Wish I could be there but will have to content myself with bikes on Sunday! Have a brilliant weekend folks, play nice with the other kids and remember - if a 2CV hits you, it will hurt the car more than it will hurt you.... |

The Pink car was awful. That and the Practical Classics car got the blue flags almost every lap going
Seriously though - I had a brilliant time - thanks to all the people who organised it, it was a top event, excellent racing - those 2CVs are just incredible! Next year I'll even stay to the end... |

what a great weekend, those 2cv girls and guys are just nutters flat out the whol way. Close dicing through out the 24 hours, ending up with the first 3 seperated by less than half a lap. If I only did one meeting a year this would be it. Bring em back next year. Now off to bed to get much required sleep and soothing of sunburn!!

Will def be rated one of the best weekends of the year. Slept solidly from 6.30 pm to 8.00 this morning!!! Midnight to 4 shift was best. I still can hardly believe those cars going full pelt into Esses, no brakes...for the whole 24 hours.. Car 72 proved you can roll a 2CV!!!
For those of you who changed your mind and decided not to turn up, you missed a really special event. |
